elizabethowen79 34 Posted November 24, 2012 I was sleeved on Nov 6. Prior to surgery I tasted probably 20+ whey powders and RTD, and did fine with my 2 weeks of shakes for pre-op diet. Now as soon as I drink one I get extremely nauseated (don't vomit but I NEVER vomit). It hits after a few sips and lasts about an hour. I have no other symptoms (gas, cramps, pain etc). I use milk, almond milk, or coconut milk and it makes no difference. I can drink plain milk without nausea so it has to be the whey. Has anyone else had this happen? I'm on puréed foods now and still need shakes to get all my Protein in. I'm hoping that this will get better as I heal, I planned on still using shakes to supplement my protein in the future. TheGamer 406 Posted November 24, 2012 Me! The Protein I could tolerate pre-surgery is now a no go I've tried about a half dozen different kinds of powders and pre mixed shakes, then another half dozen clear Protein Drinks (ala Isopure). I recently got in some About Time whey that I have not had a single issue with as long as I don't make it cold. The smell is not as strong and it doesn't seem chalky to me at all. Another thing I found is that my stomach now hates cold things. This goes for shakes, which I used to make nice and ice cold. Now, it makes me sick.
Carol Watts 67 Posted November 24, 2012 Me also. Try Syntrax Nectar. I cant tolerate regular Protein now since surgery
elizabethowen79 34 Posted November 24, 2012 Thanks for the replies. I still have some nectar samples and will try those. Perhaps it's the milky type that causes it.
