Recommended Posts

Hey all! I'm new around these parts :D

My surgery is scheduled for January 7th and I was wondering if there are any others schedule for the big day in January 2013 ...?

Just submitted paperwork today to bcbs federal so hopefully I will be approved and scheduled for the beginning of Jan 2013!

Having mine done on January 2nd! So excited and ready. My Dr is not having me do a pre op diet. Is that normal?

Mine took a little over a week to get approved by the insurance. I'm scheduled for January 30th. I need to see the dietitian again and the surgeon once again. I was kind of upset cause I was expecting the surgery to happen late December or early January :(

Hey everyone! My surgery is Jan 10th at 7:30 am with Dr. Bauman in Concord NC. So excited, but extremely nervous. Not so much about the surgery, but the recovery and learning to eat slower, dreading the pureed stage, etc. I know it will be ok. But, I tend to be a bit of a worry wart. I just think too much. B)

My diet is very simple... Unlimited Protein, 2 fruits, 2 vegetables and 2 starchy carbohydrate for 2 weeks.

Ok, so it probably varies quite a bit from surgeon to surgeon. I don't have a diet, I was just told nothing but Clear Liquids from noon till midnight the day before surgery.

That's awesome! I wanted to lose 45 before surgery but my loss has slowed to a crawl. I'm at about 33lbs down with what, 3 weeks to go? And let's not forget Christmas glaring its ugly head at me lol. I'm making tamales on Christmas Eve. That's gonna be a killer. My date is jan 9th by the way.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
