Help, Vomiting Yellow Bile With Traces Of Bright Red Blood

Recommended Posts

First off, there is no way I am pregnant, none. Second, I have had several bouts over the last few weeks of vomiting yellow bile about an hour after waking up. When I did it today I noticed traces of bright red blood. I googled this and it said that this can be a result of damage to the pyloric valve after gastric surgery, specifically gastrectomy. I am over 2 years out and this has never happened before and of course, I do not have insurance right now (long story). So, it has been about 20 minutes since the vomiting which by the way tasted like horrible chemicals, and there is a dull ache in my stomach pouch area. Help!

You need to see a doctor, I would call your surgeon's office and get after hours emergency call back . Dig out the numbers and call.

Go to the ER ...this will only get worse if not treated...you can pay the bill later in payments...do this for your health

If you haven't had your gallbladder out that's another thing to think about. I vomited bile and occasionally black blood all the time before I had mine out and the pain wasn't always where gallbladder pain "should" be.... but yah, I'm no doctor... I'm with those who say go to the doc.. personally if it was me and it happened once or twice, I'd ignore it to save money... I TOTALLY understand how it is to be uninsured... but more than a couple times and it's time to seek professional help. Good luck!

There are many concerning reasons for vomiting bile.

The concerning one is a small bowel obstruction which unfortunately can happen with the sleeve at any stage.

Our pyloric valves naturally are open while sleeping, are you waking up needing to vomit? Straight from bed or just in the a.m.?

Can a person still have bowel movements if they have an obstruction? I have been able to.

Yes, you can still have a bowel movement with a partial blockage. A complete blockage would be painful and you would not pass gas or be able to have a bm...

There are other causes that make you vomit bile...

I believe it is a concern you should definitely consult your Dr. about or visit an urgent care clinic.

If the blood just started appearing and was not always present then it could be a result of the vomiting...maybe a slight tear in your esophagus.

Please let us know how your doing.

This sounds exactly what it was like when I had gall stones. I suggest going to the ER or doc ASAP. If it is gall stones, you will feel 100% better to have it removed. The surgery is no biggie.

I am in agreement with everyone here. Sounds like gallbladder. You do NOT want it to have it erupt. I'm sorry abt not having health insurance. That does suck. But...the alternate of not getting checked out is worse.

and if by chance it is gallbladder, get it checked now. You may be ale to hold off on surgery for a few months and you can schedule the procedure in Mexico where it is only around 5K as opposed to 30K in the USA.

Also as far as errupting.. yes, you do NOT want this. By the time I got myself to the hospital, I was nearly dead. My gallbladder had become gangrene and the gangrene had spread around my abdominal cavity and was on my liver. I had a very difficult surgery which included having rotten gangrene gallbladder pieces scraped off of my liver. Good times.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
