If you are set on having Dr Lopez as your surgeon then find out what dates he'll be in Tj and then book. I had Dr Lopez in PV and he was wonderful, his wife Dr Osuna assisted him, I have no complaints. You should have the Dr. that you want, after all its major surgery and its your body. Good Luck.

I was sleeved in Pv on Oct 20. My husband came with me, the hotel is amazing. Casa Magna beautiful everyone was friendly. The hospital is new, very large, quiet and so clean. The night before i was so nervous , the unknown, having surgery in Mexico, only knowing what I read about Dr Lopez. Anakaren his associate was wonderful to us. I met Dr Osuna (Dr Lopez's wife), she's a internist and she assisted Dr Lopez in surgery. She did my pre op test and was great. Then the anesthesiologist came in and answered any questions about the surgery and Damn he was HOT! Dr Lopez came in and we talked and explained everything to me and in a matter of minutes it was show time. I was the only surgery that day so that was a bonus of having surgery in PV. I live in Canada and the OR is just like the ones here. I woke up and felt great had oxygen on due to problems from surgery done in Canada. Went back to room, which is very nice, as soon as oxygen was off I started to walk, I had pain in my left shoulder but the more I walked the better it was, and burping is good feels good. I was not sick at all, walking and ice chips are great. Dr Lopez came back in the evening with Anakaren to tell me about my surgery and actually drove my husband back to the hotel. What a nice guy. Next day all the Drs came back to check on me, had my leak test,(which isnt bad at all) and I was good . Had a drain tube but thats nothing, was released next day to hotel. The tube was taken out by Dr Osuna at the hotel but no big deal. Honestly I have nothing but good things to say about Dr Lopez and his team, they were caring and very compassionate. Hope that helped.

It helped a lot, thanx! I'm looking to go to TJ rather than PV as it is less in cost. Anesthesia terrifies me... I would say its damn near a phobia. I've had it b4 without complications except throwing up but I'm still nervous about that part. Maybe I'll get your hottie anesthesiologist!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
