19Days Post-Op And Stalled

Recommended Posts

I know it's going to happen but so soon. I've lost 28 pounds and it has been 4 days without loosing a pound and I fluctuate from 27 to 28 pounds. I'm in the puree stage and not sure what I'm doing for this to happen I have my 2nd appt on the 29th. Just needed to vent.

At about three weeks after surgery I stalled for a month. Now, it's been six and a half months and I'm down 98 lbs. from 255 to 157 and still losing steadily. Any other 30 day period since surgery the least I have lost is 10 lbs. Give it time, understand that the stall may stick around for a while, be grateful if it doesn't - and no matter what, remember that it is not an indication of your future success!

I think the puree stage is the hardest because you struggle to get in your Protein. Everything that you puree and mainly carbs it seems. So once you hit phase 3 I believe you will start seeing a difference so just hang in there!

Welcome to the week 3 stall! The good news? It goes away. The bad news is that it can take a couple weeks to do so. Just stick to your diet, exercise as much as you can, and focus on being healthy.

I don't know that I'd call just 4 days a stall. A week? maybe. Two weeks, ok, I'd call that a stall.

Could it be your TOM causing some Water weight? Eating salty Soups?

I agree, a 4 day isn't a stall. It really isn't, but I understand your frustration. This is for keeps though. You are relearning how to eat & be healthy, so try to pay more attention to that rather than the scale. It's hard, I know. I'm just 'getting it' at 3.5 months out.

PUT THE scale AWAY!!! It is not healthy to weigh yourself everyday! Stressing about not changing your weight in 4 days is going to lead you down a path of destruction. 4 days is not a stall, it's a normal daily fluctuation in weight.

Haha, you sound like the nurse at the clinic. She yelled at me for weighing every day, too.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
