Is 65 Lbs A Good Hunk Of Weight To Be Down At 5 Months?

Recommended Posts

I have lost 65 pounds since surgery in June it's almost 5 months put! Should I be worried this is it?

I feel like it should be more as I've been watching utube and some people have lost over 100 pounds by now! Should I be doing something more or am I done! I feel like I should be there too! Where is everyone else at 5 months out?

LovingmeForever just posted photos in a thread about being at 5.5 months. I think she lost around 70 lbs in that time.

I'm only 2 months out so can't give a personal comparison, but 10-12 lbs a month is pretty darn awesome. 8-10 lbs a month is impressive, too. Shoot....any loss at any time is good.

Thanks guys I was just starting think, I wasn't doing enough! Those darn videos made feel like I should be way down!

I work out 5 days a week and have had 2 long stalls, but am thinking it's time to kick up the cardio!

Thanks for the encouraging words, I think any amount of weight is good down from 314lbs to 249 I like a lot! I feel like a different person! I just want the rest to come of I'd like to loose at least 70-100 more! I hope it's possible, I want to make it possible!

I will be 5 months out as of tomorrow and I'm down 63 pounds. I've been stalled for a while now. Frustrating, but ~13 pounds a month is good with me.

Just remember, slower losers have less skin problems! That's what I keep telling myself.

I think those that lose 100 lbs in 5 months are over 350 lbs. You tend to lose more the heavier your are. 10 lbs a month is considered very sucessful. You are doing great!! Everyone is too hard on themselves!! Everyone here seems to be doing amazing. You are my motivation :)

I'm on my second stall too. I don't like them very much, it's frustrating to see the scale at the same number for weeks at a time! I think it's caused I've increased my weights when I work to loose my flabby arms, I know that I also drink near enough Water, I eat to fast, those are 2 things I struggle with everyday!

We will get through I'm sure of it, those pounds will be off before we know it:) good luck and thank you for you kind words!

A lot of times too, they are younger and/or men!

I just turned 40 and after 2 kids, losing weight is A LOT more difficult than it was 10 years ago -- surgery or not!

Very true! Not to mention yoyo dieting for decades that has destroyed ones metabolism!????

Always remember that actual weight doesn't determine your full success level if you are working out because you are burning fat but building muscle. Dont forget to look for changes in your body and your measurements. I'm only a month out...20lbs down... and hope to have as much success as all of you!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
