cadezma77 0 Posted November 23, 2012 Finally after a long process my band is out. I had it removed on Friday. Recovery has been tough. Lots more pain than I remember in getting the band. Every movement that involves my tummy muscles hurts Like $#@&. Just glad it is out. I will be scheduling the sleeve with Dr Garcia after my 2wk checkup with my us Dr. I currently have cobra insurance that will expire in march. My Dr said I need to wait 6mths before we even discuss the sleeve. Therefore I will be self pay anyway and had originally decided to go yo Garcia when I felt my doctors weren't listening to me. CowgirlJane 14,260 Posted November 26, 2012 Are you feeling better? That port area was weird and sore. It leaves a big hole in your tissue and then it fills up with Fluid before it heals and finally returns to normal. It will take awhile to completely heal, but the absence of the band makes me realize how much I just hated every single thing about it.
Threetimesacharm 1,400 Posted November 26, 2012 Congratulations on your removal. Did you realize that Dr Garcia could have done the revision for you at a nominal fee? This is of course if you didn't have complications. I only paid $500.00 extra to have my band removed and sleeve done in same surgery. Good Luck with your sleeve, you have chosen the right surgeon to do it, he is amazingly skilled!!
cadezma77 0 Posted December 3, 2012 I'd say it feels great to have the band out. My life is revolving around food anymore and anxiety about can I eat that, will this work etc. the fact I haven't thrown up in over a week is amazing!!! The pain isn't too bad anymore. I was having a lot of pain on the right side..... Which I thought was odd, but now the pain has centered right where the port was. I was beginning to question if they left the port in cuz it was so swollen n when I pushed it felt like something was there but it must be all the Fluid. Ick! I had intended on going to Garcia for both procedures but there was that 50% chance that I could come home without the sleeve due to lap band scarring. So I figured let my insurance cover the removal, heal n then get the sleeve!! Hopefully sooner rather than later

asherje 81 Posted December 11, 2012 Me too!. Had my revision surgery from gastric lap band to sleeve this morning. Won't lie, was much worse then the banding lol, but that's to be expected considering they had to fix the mess Dr Felix Speigel made me 5yrs ago and then sleeve me. I woke in the recovery room screaming and pleading for pain medicine and anti Nausea meds, bedding to throw up and for Water or ice to so so. Needless to saw never got Water Didn't throw up and once then for me stable from screaming and crying at them I was put in my room around 1pm. Since them am feeling much better. Feel like I just did a marathon, 10000000000000 sit ups and twists lol and got a new BFF Hahahaha my pain med button. Still no ice or water but have a thing to swab a little water across my tongue and lips They should be taking me for a walk at 8pm So apparently doc told fiancé that my sutures came undone on my band, it was in wrong place and dilated my lower esophagus
