What Can I Eat On 2Nd Phase After Liquid Diet?

Recommended Posts

I'm almost done with my two week liquid diet. I see my doc. next Friday and am wondering what kinds of foods I can eat during the soft food stage. Also...will I ever eat normal again?

For the puréed diet you can eat chicken, fish, shrimp etc. basically all the moist meats, no pork or beef. And I am 2 months out and idk what you consider "normal" but I don't miss the foods I am not allowed to eat yet.

Maybe I should clarify normal and say foods like fruit, vegies, bread, etc. Not junk food.< /p>

Every hospital/office/Dr is different...

My surgery was November 12th I'm looking at my binder right now. I'll be able to start my second level of my diet on Monday. It says on week 3 I can have: cottage cheese, eggs, yogurt Peanut Butter, low fat cheese, milk or soy milk and that's all it says on my list :/ I would check with your doctor but it's pretty confusing... I've seen other list and I'm quite jealous... I would love to be able to eat some of the other things... for instance on my list it doesnt even say anything about Soups I would love to have cream soups...

The above list provided is similar to what I see in my binder for week 4 Good Luck ;)

For the PUREED/SOFT stage, which is how my surgeon combined them, he allowed: Fat free or 1 % cottage or ricotta cheeses, summer squash, yams or potatoes for mashing, fruits and vegetables without seeds to puree, sugar free applesauce, pureed Soups, overcooked vegetables, cooked or refried Beans (fat free), baked or canned fish, soft meats (pureed, marinated, stewed), low sugar Cereal (soggy in milk), eggs (hard boiled, scrambled or poached), bananas, crockpot meals.

And, yes, you will be able to eat 'normal' again. I am 3 months out and still have not eaten bread, not that I can't try it, I am just not really wanting it and why bother is how I see it. Other than that, I am just trying a little of anything to see what agrees with me and what doesn't.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
