How is everyone doing this holiday, with family members stuffing themselves? I decided to stay home until all the eating was over with, then I will go visit with family. It's hard to sit there and eat yogurt, and watch everyone enjoying all the wonderful food. Just wondered how everyone else is handling this.

I am attending my family's dinner at 3pm today. I plan on just bringing yogurt and eating that. Since I am not the one cooking, I am not tempted. :P

I am remaining at home so I won't be tempted. I'm just going to bake a tiny (2lb) smoked turkey breast, deviled eggs & greenbeans. A friend gave me a recipe for pumpkin Protein pudding so I get to have dessert. I'm not going to my families for Christmas either because as we did growing up, there is handmade fudge, candy, cakes, and pies sitting around. I told them I would remain in the south this year. :)

I am home alone. Since I am the one that has Thanksgiving we had it on the 11th since I would be on my pre-op diet. It is strange to be alone on this holiday since usually the house is full. My husband left early this morning to take his mother out and spend the day with her.

Every night he comes home from work and wants to go out to eat. I did this 3 times last week. Can not do this again. I eat broth from a bowl of veg Soup while he eats steak and potatos and hamburgers. As you can see he does not want me to have this done.

Oh well, next year will be different. :)

I'm single so I'm use to being alone. My family lives in a different state.

You have a strong will power to stay on your pre-op while others are eating real food. Good for you.

I have not moved back home yet but I am going to spend the afternoon with wife and kids. I ate lite this am and took a long walk for exercise. We are going to have turkey and mashed potatoes. I'll eat that and may be a green veggie. I plan to bring a snack I can eat, but plan to keep it just in case. Since we have been separated for 2 months, just trying to enjoy the day and sunshine. It's 68 degrees and a nice fall day.

Since I was sleeved on 11/12 I am staying home this year - watching movies and eating Soup and some squash - there's always next year! It's too much to handle being around all my mother's food and deserts - I sent my kids there instead without me this year. My mom can't seem to wrap her head around why I can't go. Too much pressure and I'm still tired to boot. :)

I am 15 days post-op. I just had Thanksgiving dinner at my in-laws. I ate: turkey, dressing, jellied cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes with gravy, squash casserole, sweet potatoes, homemade applesauce, and green Beans. Now granted, I only had about 1 teaspoon of each (more turkey), but it was delicious, I did not feel deprived and I was full. I ate very slowly and chewed and chewed and chewed. No problems! I also ate one tiny bite of pumpkin pie (just the filling part).

I was sleeved 11/13 & Couldn't escape thanksgiving. Mom required it. There are just 5 of us but she has food out everywhere. I prepped the turkey, made a cranberry dish & caesar Salad Dressing. That's what I was told to do. She's set me a dish and wanted me to eat mashed potatoes & pie. And she came with me to my diet class! She has my eating list!

What gets me is that I'm just realizing how POINTLESS our thanksgiving is! It's all about eating. Nothing but eating all day long! We do nothing else!

It's just getting more depressing as we go on and I can't wait for it all to be over.

Its very difficult today. My home is usually full of family and friends this year I said I wasn't cooking. I was sleeved 11/12. Today is my Moms 92 birthday, so I made her a nice Breakfast. I actually ate about a half of a scrambled egg and I'm hurting now. I'll be glad when I'm on soft foods officially and they don't hurt. Protein shake and Protein chicken Soup for the rest of the day.

I am thankful that my new life is started, and it won't be like this forever. Happy Thanksgiving all.

I am home alone as well. It's not so bad. I made a low carb pumpkin pie and only had a little slice and threw the rest away. Had turkey, veggies , fruit and my Protein shake.

My husband also is not being very supportive. Just making remarks. My surgery is on the 29th. When is yours?

Before I ate I walked a really fast 30 minutes at the fitness trail.

I had about 1/2 oz turkey, 1 teaspoon of green bean casserole, 1 grape, 1 cherry, 1 tablespoon of sweet potato casserole with 2 mini marshmallows on top, a teaspoon of cranberry sauce and probably around 2 tablespoons of dressing. I did drink tea with my meal, too.

About 2 hours later I had some coffee and around 2oz of cheesecake.

I feel not an iota of guilt or remorse.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
