Delayed Period? 4 Weeks Post-Op

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

I'm a newbie on here. Had a sleeve done 4 weeks ago and was due my period a week after surgery. I know sudden weightloss can effect your hormones and cycle changes but as anyone else had the same problem and, if so, when do they come back?? Not on pill and periods are always regular. Any advice gratefully received.

Regards,

A UK sleever x

I'm not sleeved yet, but yes, I've lost my period in the past due to VLCDs and lots of exercise. I had always thought that it was just low bodyfat% that can trigger absence of periods and surely that wasn't a problem for me with my BMI of 50ish!!! When I talked to my doctor about it he said that it was not unusual cease menstruation on a VLCD.

So here's my story. Had my surgery oct 2 and was suppose to have my period oct 1. It didn't come until oct 6. So I should have had my period nov 6.. Didn't come until nov 20. From the beginning of November until today my weight has stalled at 245-246. I would lose and gain the same pound for 3 weeks. Then finally today (third day of my period) my weight was 244.8. Don't stress about it because our bodies have been through a lot of stress and they are in shock right now. Everything will sort itself out. Just be prepared lol

I was sleeved on 10/22 and had mine 2 weeks prior to surgery. Then I had bleeding, albeit really LIGHT, for the week after my surgery. Now, it's been a month and I've not yet had another one. I chalked it up to stress and drugs and weight loss.

When you are put under your body kinda "resets" so irregularity in your period is not uncommon. I was sleeved Nov 14th and when I left the hospital I had two days of very light spitting. Now my period is "suppose" to begin on the 25th, but I'm sure it's gonna be outta whack so I'm not going to worry if it's a no show

I have Always had regular periods. got one period a couple weeks after surgery and then nothing. it took almost three months for me to get another one and i think that was because that is when i started BC pills again. I also had a leak and was really sick during that time though so that's probably why . But my OBGYN said that it is normal to not have a period for a while after your body has experienced anything traumatic, especially surgery and dramatic weight loss. Don't worry , you are totally normal and it will come back!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
