Have a great day my sleevers. I know it's a hard day for some. All ill say is think about your calories and make sure what you eat is worth it (my dads pumpkin pie is so worth it.) this year I will only have a sliver instead of a half pie :-D

Yes, Happy Thanksgiving/Turkey Day! This will truly be a new experience for me...no stuffing my mouth today. Hubby says he is gonna prepare a small sampler plate for me. I look at all the food that is prepared/being prepared and wonder how did I ever take it all in. I am thankful knowing there is no way I will overeat today!

I helped my wife get that 22 pound turkey in the oven this morning,13 for lunch. Relatives will make this great. They all know our story and will not be shocked by the small portions wife and I put on our plates. All are supportive. I am so grateful to God for being alive and slim with a wife in good health and kids that love me.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Enjoy your day! Do pay attention to every bite you put in your mouth. For many of us who cook today, I'm sure taste testing along the way was part of the ritual. Along with munching on leftovers while putting the food away. Maybe recruit others to clean up while you and a good friend, family member or even the dog, go for a walk. Start a new tradition!

Just remember, every bite counts so make it worth it. Do not deprive yourself because this IS the way you need to eat for the rest of your life. Be healthy, successful and guilt free!

:-)

Happy Thanksgiving all! I'm just a little over one week out, but my surgeon has ok'd turkey, green Beans, mashed potatoes and stuffing! I'm bringing a small plate and my baby spoon and fork. I'm nervous how my stomach will react since I've been on mostly liquids for two weeks.

I must remind myself how grateful I am for my family and my health and my sleeve!

I am so Thankful for this day and for being sleeved June 28. I can still enjoy Thanksgiving just with Portion Control. Today I am 100 lighter that I was pre-op 357 and now 257! If this isn't something to be thankful for I don't know what is. It is a beautiful day in Houston, Tx and I'm about to go walking. Praise Him!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
