Help! This Is Not Working.

Recommended Posts

I understand! I lost about 20 lb in the 2 weeks preop but only lost 3 lb post-op when I weighed in 2 weeks after my surgery. I'm not sure if that's "normal" or what!

Good luck and keep up the good work! "Nothing good comes easy..sometimes you've gotta fight."

Sleeved on November 14th. Lost 7 lbs. so far. Totally disappointed and discouraged already....not good

I feel depressed. Anybody else feeling this way?

These are your old thoughts that are sabotaging you! This is the pattern of thinking you had when on diets before........So now lets see if we can change this pattern to something like, I am so fortunate to have lost these 7 lbs. I know more weight will come off. And try to look at what's around the corner like, 20 lbs coming off........Please don't be disappointed or discouraged because you can't go back to the old eating habits. You have to move forward. Sit back and enjoy the ride now. It is going to be a roller coaster but you've got this.....This is a great start......Cheers to better health and the horrible (LOL) side effects of a hot sexy new body to come.......

Ms Skinniness thanks for the feedback and advice. It's people like you that will help me through this. Good luck to you too.

Please remember that you did not gain the weight in one swoop and will not lose it this way either. One of my doctors had to remind me of this when I was complaining about being a slow loser. She was absolutely correct and it helped readjust my thought process and disappointment.

Very true. Great advice.

I have had those moments. The first two times it happened, I kept thinking... "I've failed at every other diet. I'm going to fail the sleeve too." I was sleeved 6/28, so it has been five months for me. I believe my first real stall was about 2 weeks post op (so 4 weeks of dieting when you count my 2 weeks preop) and lasted nearly a month. I fluctuated around the same 2-3 pounds for a month. I was a little disheartened. Then, things perked up again, and I steadily lost for the next month. The fourth month, I had another period of almost 5 weeks were I would fluctuate up and down 2-3 pounds, but I wasn't so worried this time because I had already done it once before.

Moral of the story: I've been there. I'm five months post op and 62lbs lighter including two months where I did nothing but fluctuate. Don't let those bad months mess with your head!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
