I can see why you were upset. A time and a place exist for EVERYTHING. Your friend was out of line for that because their is a proper way to talk to someone about something so sensitive as weight and weight loss surgery. People really think it is that easier...it's not!

I know the feeling..I have one friend (also my sisterinlaw) that I hesitated to tell because she likes to inform everybody and their brother about my business afterward. I felt guilty for not including her, after all, I call her sister so I told her a few weeks ago. Since then, it's been nothing but gloom and doom and did I see this or that in the news (all bad stuff she thinks will happen to me)??? I wish I wouldn't have told her now..

Thats not a friend. You would be well served to never see that person again.

This is crazy, I've had similar things happen to me. People are crazy and too opinionated. I had to "educate" a ton of people on the subject, it was annoying but it was the only way for people to understand me & what I was doing. The doctor who did my pshyc eval said to get those negative, unsupportive people out of your life. I'm glad your strong enough to over look them.

Some people are just negative. I haven't come across too many of them, but when I do I politely thank them for their concern, and go about my day. It's not their decision, and I don't regret getting the surgery one bit. They can think whatever they do, it doesn't really matter to me when I think about that I'm not in the hospital because I didn't get diabetes because I finally lost the weight by VSG or something along those lines.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
