Laughter, Not Really The Best Medicine... For Right Now.

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved Nov. 15th, since then all of my incisions have no pain except the big one on my left side. Since my surgery it has hurt me to laugh so I just tried not to as much as possible well tonight I think it all caught up with me. I couldn't control it and man did it HURT! this may sound cheesy but when will I be able to laugh again? How long does it normally take for that big incision to heal?

Good luck with that though I don't really know, I'd imagine a couple weeks and light laughter, it'll be all healed given time of course. This may pose a future prob for me too.

I was sleeved on 11/14 and Saturday my sister did a prank to my dad and laughing was inevitable...after I finished I was in so much pain I had to take a Percocet.

Remember the value of holding a pillow against your tummy at times of movement and laughter. :(

I tried that too but it didn't help me much either. I was literally laughing and screaming in pain at the same time. I didn't know that was possible.

Seems like I remember reading somewheres it can be up to 6-8 weeks before that big incision is healed. ^_^

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
