suzthebrit 146 Posted November 20, 2012 If you were sleeved on the 14th you must still be on liquids. They slide right through and don't give you the full feeling as much. When you get on to soft foods, that's when you'll notice that full feeling. Good luck. Keep measuring you portions and you'll be fine. 1 Soon2BMiniMommy reacted to this
Soon2BMiniMommy 92 Posted November 20, 2012 I'm confused, too....what do you mean eat and eat? What are you 'eating' six days out? I'm assuming not steak and eggs It's okay....your tummy is adjusting. I can't remember who told me this in the beginning, but she said to remember that even though our tummies are much smaller after surgery, that the hormones in our bodies are still floating around (ghrelin) and the hunger will not be gone right away. Also, our tummies are healing and sort of numb, AND on top of all that, you are in the worst time of head hunger and food mourning, which can make you feel 'hungry'. Are you taking a PPI (acid inhibitor)? My advice would be to only 'eat' small amounts as you don't want to hurt your new tummy, and just keep saying to yourself over these next couple of weeks that it will get better. Your body, and your mind, has a pretty crazy adjustment now and in the next couple of weeks. Just know that it's temporary, and you will find balance eventually. I promise The first couple months are the hardest, really, with trying to find your new 'normal'. 3 NerdyMHC, crdevans and Mrsdw206 reacted to this
TheCurvyJones 721 Posted November 20, 2012 Dr Alvarez from Endobariatrics does a great on this. It is most likely stomach acid making you feel like you're hungry. Ask your surgeon, but he recommends Prilosec, Zantac or other OTC medications over something like TUMS.
Soli3l 30 Posted November 20, 2012 I was also sleeved 11/14...I was really hungry on Sunday and yesterday after 8 pm while on clear liquid diet, I am ok during the day. I started full liquids today, so I will see what happens at night.
pedsnurse120304 19 Posted November 20, 2012 Good. Luck. Thanks for all the advice.. I was able to get a Protein Shake down pretty well, someone recommend I bit a Peanut Butter for flavor.
Fallenangel2904 494 Posted November 20, 2012 I was sleeved the same day as you. I'm having hunger issues too. I know some is head hunger but some is real. As said above when your on liquids it's hard to tell restriction. I noticed when I eat thicker Soups I feel a bit more full. Praying for good restriction once I get to mushies next week! 1 pedsnurse120304 reacted to this

allthatjazz4u 204 Posted November 20, 2012 I'm glad I found this thread. I to was sleeved on the 14th and am experiencing a lot of hunger. I'm just chalking it up to being only on liquids. The liquids seem to go down very easily...almost too easily. I've read one you progress to puréed a no soft foods, the "full" feeling will kick in. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one experiencing this Sent from my iPad using VST 1 pedsnurse120304 reacted to this

pedsnurse120304 19 Posted November 23, 2012 You both made my day. I feel so much better now. I' ve been really upset wondering if something was not done correctly. I haven't met or spoken to any who has experienced this until now. I' m hoping when we advance, we will experience that beautiful full feeling we have been waiting for.. Mrsdw206 40 Posted November 23, 2012 I was on the 14th and was on mushies for thanksgiving. I feel like I was a me to eat a lot. I'm used to having my band and feeling restriction but I was able to get a cup of mashed potatoes, string Beans, and yams all without no problem. I stopped myself but was looking for restriction. I'm so afraid that something is wrong. I'm looking for a nutritionist for some help next week.
