Can Someone Help Me Please!

Recommended Posts

I was in the shower and I was cleaning my scabs and I saw my incision and freaked out cause I pulled off the loose scabs and then I started freaking out and my body started shuttering and I felt dizzy like I was going to pass out. Why'd this happen, was this a panic attack?!

It happened to me once too. About 2 weeks out. I was cleaning the glue off and accidentally pulled the scab off. So I kept poking at it. And the next thing I knew I was having hot flashes and I felt nauseated to the point of throwing up and I was sweating and cold all at the same time. I had to get out the shower and lay down. After about ten min I felt fine, like it never happened. I think it was because the incision area is very sensitive and it put our nerves out of whack! It's never happened again only that one time.... Although I did stop touching the incisions.... Lol!

You'll be fine, just follow the advice of the surgeon. "Don't clean or pick at the incisions until it heals". I learned my lesson.

Thank you I'm terrified at this point. I'm afraid it'll come back and happen again

Sounds like a panic attack. You scared yourself! Lightly soap your incisions and rinse...no picking! You'll be ok :)

I will probably do the same thing when mine start to come off !! I think it's a because we just went through a traumatic situation with the surgery and still feel vulnerable...

I didn't have a problem with my VSG incisions but I had a similar reaction to my first c-section incision. I couldn't even look at it without feeling that way... 3 c-sections and several other surgeries later I don't bat an eye at it. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
