What Was That? Leak Scare.

Recommended Posts

This morning I woke up a little nauseated but not bad. Took all my meds plus started back on my Allopurinol (for Gout) that I was taking before surgery(surgery was 11/1/12 BTW) because my Dr. said it was Ok. About an hour later I break out in a sweat. No chills but my heart did feel like it was beating faster than normal. This feeling lasted about an hour and went away. I haven't ate anything this morning but I did eat 8oz. of strained cream of mushroom Soup made with 2% hi-protein milk last night. I felt EXTREMELY full after doing that. That had me worrying that I may have gotten a leak. I hate to say it but I've been eating the same 8oz. every night because I thought that was what I was supposed to be eating. I always feel very full after doing so. Just read my B-book this morning and found that Im only supposed to be eating 4oz. (Oops!)

It's 2 hours later now and I feel fine. What was that? A little dump maybe? Anybody else have this happen?

Did you eat/have something in your stomach before you took the allopurinal? It is never good to take meds on an empty sleeve. Might just have been a reaction to the meds.

That thought briefly crossed my mind but that is the way I've always taken my meds. Guess this is one more thing I need to modify in my life. Small price to pay for a new me !!!

Thanks

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
