Recommend A Blender/ Food Processor

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

Newbie here, pre-op trying to get ready. I searched the archives but did not come up with a answer.

I only own a cheapo blender and know I will need to buy something new for the pureed food and Protein Shakes. I don't want to spend hundreds, just not buy the wrong moderate priced model.

What works well and is easy to live with? I work full time and will be taking stuff to work or maybe i should have one of those immersion blenders to keep at work?

Thank you for your input!

Carol Kaye

I got a really good blender from GNC. It's small and portable and powerful. It comes with 2 travel cups and 2 lids. It is usually $40, but you can find it on "Hot Sale" for $20. They als have one that comes with a juice tomake your own juice.< /p>

Hope this helps?

Hi Carol and welcome!

I purchased the Magic Bullet and promptly brought it back. I was initially torn between that and the Ninja Pulse system. I absolutely love the Ninja. It has a small footprint and blends very quickly and powerfully. I love the single serve cups for my every day shakes. I've had it about a month and very pleased with it. I have an immersion blender also and though I do love it, I find the Ninja handles the ice better ( I like my shakes with ice)

Bed Bath and Beyond carries it for 79.99 and I used a 20% off coupon.

Good luck!!

I bought a cuisinart single serve version and a NutriBullet, cuisinart is OK, not as strong as regular garden variety large blender would be, they will no doubts to me definatley get me through the 2 months post op stages.

haha, your Seinfeld ID, Yo Art.

I bought a Cuisinart Handy Prep 3 cup food processor. It's perfect for pureeing meat and veggies in with canned Soups. I'm impressed with how powerful it is, however, it tends to puree everything rather than chop.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
