Am I Doing This Right?

Recommended Posts

Hi!

I was sleeved on Oct. 30th. I just have a couple of questions relating to what I've been eating lately and wondering if I am sabatoging myself or if this is ok:

I am 21 days out and this is what I can eat so far (typically only less than 1/2 cup each time I eat):

tuna mixed with lowfat mayo

eggs mixed with a little cheese

String cheese

Refried Beans w/cheese

SF Popsicles

Low fat Cheese Sticks

Cream Soups

Does this seem pretty normal for the stage I'm in? Am I sabotoging myself? Why I ask is because this past week I only lost 1 pound... I'm not freaking out about it but I figure it's due to being on a total liquid stage and now starting to introduce more foods to the diet... am I correct in thinking this will slow things down a little?

I've lost about 25lbs so far, I'm so happy and excited and just want to keep doing the right thing. I'm also starting to exercise a little more harder and boy do I feel it!! :)

Thanks for anyone's advice. I appreciate it!

I think you are doing great and this all sounds good. I was eating all the same things except mayo- it made me feel really sick for some reason. Don't fret about the weight- I hit a 3 week plateau right around one month from surgery. So 1 pound is still really good. You are going to lose no matter what! Don't worry- enjoy the ride :)

Definitely sounds like the first stall has hit. Give it two or three weeks an see how it goes.

The diet looks about right: bland and totally unappealing, just like it should be at that stage. <_<

If you'll pardon me for this, but I believe only your BM can tell you if you've had enough cheese, if you get my meaning. Nutritionally, there ain't a whole lot of options in soft foods.

I don't see much Protein in that list.

Are you getting the Protein in?

I hit the stall at 2 weeks it lasted until this week. I am 6 weeks out today. I kept losing inches and clothes kept getting to big though. scales didnt move for 4 weeks. Scales can be your enemy.

tuna, refried Beans, cheese, greek yogurt, all have protein in them... kind of why I chose them to eat... and I drink a Protein Drink in the am...sometimes in the PM as well.

Am I missing something... ?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
