Very Confused--Weight Up

Recommended Posts

Okay so I went to work out 2 weeks ago and the scale said I was down 17 lbs--at my 4 week check up I hadn't lost anything so this was 2 weeks later---I was shocked but the lady nearby said the scales had weighed her right even a little heavy--I worked out that week Mon-Fri--I did 30 minutes of cardio 4 days and weight for 15-20 minutes 4 days and for 45 minutes one day--the next Monday I weighed, on the same scale as before and had gone up 26lbs--I was discouraged and decided to only weigh next time at my next doctor visit on December 13--I completed my second week of exercie as before--I am going before work and working out 45-50 minutes. I am also discouraged because no one has noticed my weight loss at work--I wear scrubs and they disguise alot--they feel baggy on me--my children have both remarked on my weight loss but I want someone who doesn't know about the surgery to notice--vain I know but it just feels good when someone notices--so my question is this WTH is going on with that scale? any help or comments greatly appreciated--I just don't want to get discouraged and stop working out and working towards my goal.

It's a marathon not a sprit!

I would not trust a public scale at a gym - most likely it isn't cared for or calibrated like it should be. I am sure your Dr's office wouldn't mind you stopping in to check on their scales.< /p>

I am almost 4 weeks post op and I haven't lost anything since 8 August. The scale has fluctuated between 202 and 204 since 8 August. It is very frustrating and discouraging to say the least. I started at 216, so to only lose 12 pound the first month is certainly not what I expected......I am feeling very down with this....

Don't despair!! I lost 50 lbs preop, but people didn't start to remark on my weight loss until I had lost 35-40 lbs!! It was disheartening but I KNEW I was doing great. And now I am 6 weeks Postop. Lost 20 lbs the first month and nothing since!! But I am resilient!! It will happen!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
