Surgery Tomorrow- November 19Th

Recommended Posts

My surgery went very well. I got to leave the hospital Tuesday afternoon. I was not able to pass any gas until last night though. Since I was moving around so well they weren't concerned. I also had trouble with my bladder waking up, but now things are going well. It is hard to get enough Water in. Big sips= big chest pain. It's the weirdest thing. The worst part for me is all the nasty medications they make you take. I'm on a stool softner twice a day (nasty tasting!), prilosec liuid (super NASTY), ,liquid pain medication (the lesser of nastiness)...

I HIGHLY recommend a heating pad. I slept with one the entire night in the hospital and last night at home too. It helped A LOT.

I was up walking as much as I could. Actually, they had me do less than I wanted to do, but that was okay.

Stage 1 foods the first part after surgery. The next morning they changed it to Stage 2 foods, full, smooth liquids.< /p>

I did a barium swallow the morning after surgery, and that went good. No leaks.

I did have a couple moments when I cried and wondered what in the world I did to myself. I'm not in a whole lot of pain, but there is definite discomfort. The worst incision pain is the biggest one. It like indented and deformed my stomach in that spot. It's quite gross... my husband has been really good and supportive. He's calmed me down and reminded me of the reasons I did the procedure. It will get better. The first part just hasn't been overly fun.

Also, my mom commented that I already look like I've lost weight since the surgery.. so I went in and weighed myself to find that I gained 12 pounds. That made me laugh. Water weight... but still!! I wasn't planning on weighing myself at all until my 2 week post op appt. We will see if I can hold off until then from now on. :)

Good luck to all those getting sleeved soon!

I think it's funny how different the doctors are! Some people on liquid meds where I'm on pills! I'm on Clear Liquids for a week, which sounds ok today but I'm sure after a couple more days I'll be more than ready to move on.

I just went on a walk around the block which felt pretty good. I'm pretty bloated so I'm not to worried about my weight, yet.

I have a lot of Water bottles all over to keep me hydrated as well as plenty of Jello & popsicles.

My incision at my belly button is irritating a little, tonight I think I'll try the heating pad on my side.

My surgery was also Monday, November 19th. I didn't have any complications and was able to go home about 3:30p on Tuesday afternoon. I have no appetite or desire to eat food! I am working up to 64oz of Clear Liquids today! I gained 10lbs from the surgery, but I am already down 5lbs.

I am the same! No pain meds today and only a little at bedtime lastnight. I'm also down 4 pounds since surgery. YES! The heating pad is like magic!!!
