Too much fill? Can't decide

Recommended Posts

Need some advice from all of those banded more than a couple of months...I got my first fill (1.8cc in a 4cc band) on 10/6. Before this fill, I could just about eat anything, and had stopped losing weight. Since this fill, I can only eat abouyt 2-3 tablespoons of food. If I eat more than this, I have to throw up in order for that terrible pain behind my breastbone to g oaway. It seems like I have to do this every day...I haven't learned where my stop point should be. So, I'm asking for your advice. Should I get a slight unfill? I am scheduled to go back to my doc for a followup on 11/3...do you all think I should wait that long?

thanks for your insight!:nervous

terrible pain behind my breastbone to g oaway. .I haven't learned where my stop point should be.

Sounds like it to me that this is your stop point. Many of us get stop points, mine was an ice cream headache, others have experienced a runny nose, a hiccup or a pain in the shoulder.

If you have to throw up everyday, you are too tight, constant throwing up on a daily basis is not good for your band, you risk slippage, having as littler as .2 ccs removed makes a huge difference in being able to eat without throwing up but still able to lose weight. 1.8 for your first fill seems like alot, I would not wait until your next appointment call your Dr and tell him you are throwing up everyday, I bet he will agree you are too tgiht. I know my doctor would not like to hear I was throwing up everyday he would definately want me in for a slight unfill.

You should be able to eat a small chicken breast 3 oz or small hamburger patty or 3 oz piece of soft fish at least for each meal, if you can't then you are definitely too tight. Of course, use bandster rules ...small bites and chew chew chew!

Sue- you are too tight. I went through the same thing and eventually got horrible reflux that lasted for a few months on and off. I went to my surgeon yesterday and had 1CC of my fill taken out. It's just temporary, but he warned me that if I didn't stop irritating my esophagus it could lead to SERIOUS complications.

I have has such relief in the last 24 hours!!! And I am happy to say I still have enough restriction that I don't think I will gain weight. At any rate after two or three weeks, if I haven't had any reflux or chest pain episodes, I can go back for another .5 CCs. If I haven't gained weight and am still losing I think I will wait, though.

Lafosse....the VG Band is a larger band in that it will hold more fill ( @ 10 cc's Maximum). I understand that it is flexible...somewhat like an accordian.

The standard Inamed band holds 4cc of saline solution maximum.

Tru,

My first fill was 1.8 and I suffered with the same thing you complain of, not being able to eat more than a tablespoon or 2 of food and then throwing up. I just went back to the Dr and they unfilled me to 1.1. Honestly I thought that was going to be to low, but I think its still too tight. I'm still having problems keeping anything down. I also forget to chew, chew, chew......

My advice is go lower and build back up.....

Wow - okay you guys have convinced me - I am going for an unfill. Honestly, I thought I was dealing with more of the first bite synddrome e.g., too big of an initial bite; as well as the eating too fast thing...probably a little bit of both of those combined with too much fill. I'l llet you know what the doc says.

Thanks again.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
