5 Days Post Sleeve.... Most Frustrating Day So Far...

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved

Lol, I'll try that again......

I was sleeved on 11/13 so I'm officially 5 days out. I've been drinking as much as possible and doing the Popsicle/jello/fudge pop thing. Through this recovery I'm also attempting to go cold turkey with caffeine, soda and chewing tobacco.

The wife was sleeved a week earlier so we are kind of recouperating together.

She has experienced getting full from half a cup of the pre packaged Jello etc but I have yet to FEEL full.... I'm just not sure I'm doing it right.....

Night one in the hospital, I was chewing up and swallowing the ice chips I was given to use to swab my lips etc with while I was technically not allowed to eat or drink anything. I just couldn't help it..... My throat was dry and I was thirsty..... And it didn't seem to hurt my stomach either.

Day 2 at the hospital I was cleared for Clear liquids and was given a bunch of 1oz cups to keep track. 4oz per hour was not an issue... I was drinking Water, juice cut with Water, broth and tea with lemon. Nothing bothered the sleeve but nothing seemed to fill me up either.

Fast fwd to today.... Still haven't experienced the FULL feeling and even though I'm using baby spoons, the Jello is taking nowhere near a half hour to finish. Maybe 15 mins at most..... Also, my wife and I were "arguing" about protein/vitamins/b12 at this stage of the game..... She feels Clear Liquids are clear liquids.... Period.

So, what say some of you pro's out there? Any advice for me? Thanks in advance!

Everyone experiences different levels of swelling. Maybe you didn't have as much swelling so you are having an easier time with liquids. Once you move to solid Protein, you will know what kind of restriction you truly have.

If you are feeling a gnawing hunger, it might be acid instead of hunger. I didn't have that issue, but I did take an acid reducer for the first six months. I've seen lots of people with that issue.

As for the Vitamins, my program had me taking everything except the Calcium the day after surgery. My program recommends the sublingual B12, so there is nothing to swallow. But I did swallow all other Vitamins without a problem. I had to take them one at a time with teeny sips.

Best wishes on your journey!

Lynda

I felt just like you. Everything went down easy and never had trouble with liquids and never felt full. I'm 5 weeks post op. Didn't feel restriction until purees. Honestly, I still don't feel full as in satisfied but I have plenty of restriction. I battle a gnawing hunger feeling all the time and have switched my PPI plenty of times but since I'm still healing, most of my signals are screwed up. I hated when people would say give it time but that's all I can try. Good luck!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
