I had my sleeve on Nov 13 , The only time I drank from a medicine cup was when i was in the hospital for 2 days , on my 3 rd day home , I can take in more liquids .. yesterday I made myself a cup of tea and I sat with it in my hand watching tv. and without realizing it , I finished the whole cup ........ I think that I am adjusting to taking in small sips and as soon as I feel that something in the pitch of my neck , I automatically stop and when it passes I take another sip.

Jugee44...my surgery is Monday (Nov 19)...I'm getting nervous, not about the surgery but about the first few days after surgery and the first week after surgery. Did you have painful gas issues? Nausea? Please share! Thanks! ronlee

I had surgery Monday and drain out today. I had nausea in the hospital but only once since I've been at my daughter's. Today I'm sipping from bottle and not using medicine cups. Got on computer and forgot to sip. Need to make that a habit. Good luck!! Look at your progress each day!!

What was helpful to me was that I had a fully Hystorectomy this past July , and it was an open surgery ,,, I figured that if I got through that , the sleeve surgery was less invasive ,so I wasnt so nervouse about the procedure itself.

My concerns were much like yours , wondering how I would feel and how my body was going to respond . I had heard such possitive stories from other sleevers but also heard the neggative ones.

I was very lucky ,my surgery was on Nov 13 and I went home on the 15th. I have not experianced those " Gas pains" that I have heard people talk about. I think let me go home because I was passing gas and urinating like they expected , there were 2 other women in the same unit that had gotten sleeved and the nurse told me that they were not doing too good so they had to stay longer.

As for me the only time that I felt that sharp pain right under my breast on my left side was on the 1st day when i tried to sip Water or broth . The 2nd day I was able to drink a little more and that sharp pain seemed to lessen. On the 3rd day I started drinking more and I didnt feel that pain anymore , instead I felt it in the back of my throat ,so after that feeling passed I continued to drink more especially since I was worried about getting dehydrated.

The thing that is bothering me alot is the Incisions on my stomache , sometimes it feels like my skin is streching , and other times the bigger Incision feels like its indenting inward and feels awful , another thing that started bothering me is my back . I have not been able to do #2 , but I am not so worried yet because I am still on Clear Liquids . thats about what is happening to me .. I dont feel hungy .

After you have your surgery , please remember that you mouth will be bigger then your stomach , so dont take a mouth full of Water or liquids , take in small sips . I wish you the very best on your surgery , if you need any support I will so happy to share with you anything that may be helpful.

May God bless you.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
