Is It Bad I'm A Little Happy....

That hostess won't be around for long? Lol. I LOVE their orange cupcakes. One of my biggest down falls in my pre sleeve days. Every time I walk past them in the store, I cry a little inside.

Now they won't be tempting me from the shelf much longer. Those pesky, yet oh so yummy treats.

....I do however feel terrible for all of the people who will lose their jobs and pray they will find something quickly.

I am going to miss the thought of fried twinkles at the state fair. Not that I have ever had one, but it is as much a part of te fair food experience as onion burgers and scones.

My husband LOVES those orange cupcakes too! He went to the Hostess Outlet to try to stock up on them... I personally find them hurk-worthy... I have not had Hostess product in over 30 yrs... I am sorry people will lose jobs, but I will not miss them.

Well remember it is the death of Hostess. But 33 of the Hostess brands more than likely will be sold to companies..and I bet it won't be long before we see Twinkies back on the shelves ..Ding Dongs..Ho Hos ...orange cup cakes...

For me, sweet, cakey treats were never my problem, it was and still is the salty, crunchy treats that are my downfall. I do feel bad for all the people who will be out of work as a result of this, though.

The way I I heard it was the employees were given the option to take a pay cut to keep their jobs. They are union employees and decided to strike. They were warned and so the company is now filing bankruptcy. As an unemployed person trying desperately to find employment I don't feel sorry they did it to themselves.

UNIONS decide whether or not to strike, NOT the employees themselves. I'm certain that at least SOME of the 18,000 people losing theirs jobs didn't want to strike.

You post is mean spirited.

Yes ..that is true. But it is the employee who decides whether or not to join said union. Once you pay that union membership fee, you are bound by its governance. And to play devil's advocate, aren't you being mean spirited back to the person you are excusing of being mean spirited?

Some employees don't have an option not to join the union (ie most fire dept staff have to join to get insurance...don't join, no insurance). It's kind of a corrupt system in many ways now a days. And before you argue with me, I am the daughter of a high up AFLCIO union organizer so I've lived "the union" for more years than most would ever want to.

And devils advocate....the members of the union vote to strike, and then the union, based on that vote, calls the strike, so basically the workers did make that choice.

THat said....orange cupcakes are the food of the devil. Are we really losing anything with hostess gone? Twinkies, ding dongs....very very bad food and part of the reason america is so fat.

It will likely put a few oil companies out of business....do you know how to make the ding dong coating? I learned in culinary class. 50% oil and 50% chocolate (which already has a high oil content when made into bar form). Bad chit!

Not all of the Hostess employees are/were union members. The bakers union represented only about 5000 employees, but they were critical employees, obviously. 6,000+ were teamsters but they voted to end the strike, so that's approximately 13,000 that either weren't a part of the strike or voted to end it early. It's sad for families losing income in this economy no matter.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
