Two Years And Still Going Strong.

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, its been two years, I had my sleeve on November 17, 2010. My Starting weight was 580 pounds. Today I'm at 260 pounds. I'm at a stand still on losing weight and I'm happy with that, I would like to get down to 240 but I'm not in a hurry, I can eat what I want and do what I want. I'm off most of my prescriptions, High blood pressure medicine, Cholesterol medicine, Diabetes medicine, I have more energy then I have ever had. This has been a roller coaster of emotions but it was the best thing that I have ever done. If anyone has any question feel free to ask me anything.

Wow that is some great progress!! Did u have any problems with loose skin? Was it difficult to not drink while eating?

The loose skin is a #@%, I think if I flap my arms fast enough I can fly...lol and the skin where my stomach use to be is the one that bothers me the most, I think thats has to be 40 pounds or more, but for now I have learned to live with it.. The not drinking while eating took some getting use to. What I do is have a glass of whatever I want while I eat, but only take sips from it as I eat, that way I dont worry about choking. When I go out to eat I always use to order Water but I now order sugar free tea, Or I get a diet drink because they make you belch which gets rid of the air bubbles trapped in your stomach , the air bubbles make you feel so bad after you eat or it does me.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
