So, since you are still here, it is safe to say that you're still planning on getting sleeved?

If we are honest with ourselves, I think most of us had a panic attack somewhere in the process. Mine was after my nutritionist appt - all I kept hearing is " you'll never do x again". Well, I am almost 3 years out. There is nothing I CAN'T have, but there are things I choose to avoid and/or limit.

Go to your appointment and really listen to your surgeon. Share your concerns and listen to their response. You will know if/when surgery is right for you.

Congrats... what made you realize this was the right decision? How much weight have you lost? How difficult has it been to maintain it?

My surgery is scheduled for Dec 12 and I am really getting nervous. However, i am only 30 years old and i am on 4 blood pressure medications. I just got married last year and want to start having kids but my doctors want me to lose 100lbs before i start trying. I have got to get this weight off so i can get on with my life. Just focus on your reasons for having surgery. Think about how much better your life will be after.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. Truth of the matter is that I too have a comorbidity called diabetes. Wish you much success on your journey. God Bless

I really decided against it because of the grehlin hormone. That hormone is responsible for memory and it gets removed.

Did you get another surgery?

How come you are still here? I'm just curious, not being snarky.

I thought the grehlin hormone came back over time?

I have felt the same. I am an RN on a post op bariatric unit- I understand. But also, I can answer any of your questions. Working on this unit for the past 4 years I have seen the good, the bad, the ugly- but also the inspiring. I have seen people regain their life, health, and confidence. It's a new beginning. A very big change- and change is scary. The thing is- you have to do this for you. You need to be totally educated on the choice and go in to it with the knowledge of how this thing works. Any questions at all- just ask. Ill be happy to answer.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
