Long, extended periods of overeating does. I'd suggest that you do a search on here for this topic. It's often been discussed and you'll find some good info. It's really hard to stretch. But that doesn't mean as time passes that the sleeve will stop you from bad food choices. It still requires discipline. I am 3 months out and can eat much more than I ever expected. If i don't fill up on Protein first, I find myself making bad food choices.

I believe it doesn't stretch as they removed the "stretchy" part of our stomach. I believe it just relaxes in time.

Last Summer I had an emergency out of the country that required an endoscopy. After the exams they told me that my stomach was back to normal size. I was devastated. It was only after 3 weeks of eating more food during a vacation. They also told me a few cases of people who had surgery twice and the stomach still stretched, :-(

That's awful. Did they mention how common this was?

Sorry, not buying this theory. No stomach after this surgery can have their stomach stretched back to the 'normal' size like that. If you are back in the US, I'd say you should consult a bariatric doc for peace of mind.

I am sorry you had difficulties. I hope you are better now.

I did not ask about how common it was but they did mention a few cases. I ahve gained 13 pounds since that vacation. i was overeating and even massaging my stomach when feeling stuffed to be able to eat a bit more. I was returning to my country after several years, missing the food and the companionship o f friends and family... I knew i was doing wrong but I thought it was jut go back to controlled eating and it would be fine. The fact is that i gained 6 pounds on that vacation and i have gained another 7 pounds since then to a total of 13 pounds and it has been extremely hard to loose again and to eat normally again. Any advice on how to make the pouch smaller again will be appreciated. I am feeling not in control again and really descouraged.

I got the images and results from the endoscopy, ultrasound and mri and it do seem larger. Maybe not as before but yes I can eat waaay more and not feel stuffed. I am hoping there is a way to improve restriction again w/ surgery. Any advice (not judgemental) will be appreciated. Thanks

Honestly, I'd go back to the basics. Ms. diva has a boot camp, or pouch test, or something like that. It helps people kinda reset themselves. I'm sure someone else can give you more info.

And yes, our stomachs can hold more as we get further out, which is why it's so important to do our homework and learn how to eat correctly during the time when we are restricted.

Good luck!

I am with you on Doxieville. I dont think it is possible. If you ate that much food, you had to feel miserable....Just calm down, and restart the process...it will work if you let it. Watch your portion sizes, and get back on track...I know you can do it! Stay encouraged...everyone falls but you just have to get back up and try again! Keep us posted on what the doctor in Usa says! Good luck

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
