My family, I think, is done with my daily updates so I will use this forum as it is intended - to share with perfect strangers in the same boat as me. First the great news! It is three weeks since I started my pre op diet 10/25) and it will be two weeks tomorrow that I was sleeved. I have lost a total of 25 lbs, I had no complications, I have been off the pain meds in the day since day # 3 and only take them at night because I am a stomach sleeper. I already got though my first small stall about 5 days without the scale moving but now it is dropping off fast. I have been able to move into puréed and soft foods and have had no issues although I have followed the rules (moslt, I think some of what I am eating is not so much puréed but it is super soft

Now the not so gre

Sorry, it cut off! I have had not issues getting in my Proteins and most of my Water. I am back to work (desk job) and have been getting in a few miles most days.

Now the not so good, I made a delicious 17 bean Soup with turkey sausage yesterday, I cooked it forever so everything was super soft. It had all the normal spices so it was delicious (I have been cooking a lot of homemade Soups and stews and mashing them up and they are great. They are also great because my young kids, mom and most friends don't know I had the surgery so it is easy for them to miss that I am eating anything differently than then. So what is not good? As I was cleaning up from dinner and putting the soup away I took three good sized bites of the soup (old habit). I am now experiencing my first "overfill" and it STINKS. I feel like food is stuck in my chest and I can't get it down. I had also team a drink%2

And for the record, I had the Soup for dinner and had no issues. I just forgot to listen to the rules and pay attention to the fact tha I was full and just because it tasted great, I should not eat more!

Yeah, most of us go trhu this once in awhile, I did shortly after surgery and even as recently as a few nights ago, I'm 7 months out. I had dinner but a few hours later I got a craving for a turkey meatball and had 2 small meatballs with sauce, and ate faster than I should, I knew it was OLD behavior...got sick right away and threw it up and felt better. Have to keep focused our tummys are really small!!

Good luck!! Not to worry it will eventually go down, or if you have to throw up, its not like before surgery, its quick and you're done.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
