Anxiety Centering In The Stomach--2 Years Out

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know of any sort of "syndrome", which features a great deal of anxiety, especially a "shaky" stomach? I am two years out, and have lost 100 pounds. This anxiousness occurs mostly in the morning when I first get up.

I would appreciate any sharing on this question.

Panic disorder and/or General anxiety disorder frequently will affect one's stomach. There is a connection referrred to as the "gut brain" and in some cases it is associated with the vagal nerve. I know of people who feel the "anxiety" feeling in their stomach with the development of an anxiety/panic disorder; I also know of people who will have anxiety attacks triggered by blood sugar imbalances or chemical/mineral imbalances. You may want to touch base with your Dr. to make sure all your metabolic numbers are in the normal range. Just a suggestion.

Yes, anxiety can manifest itself in stomach symptoms. I know that when I'm very anxious I have a similar issue. My anxiety also happens often in the morning before work or school, so I just use Protein Drinks to get me through since they're easier.

Do you happen to drink caffeine first thing in the morning? or do you smoke? I know that caffeine causes anxious feelings in my stomach. Nicotine can also cause anxious feelings since it constricts arteries.

My anxiety causes this too. Sometimes as soon as I wake up I feel panicky. Anti-anxiety meds help me though.

I suggested checking with your Doc because if you have never had anxiety or been dx'd with an emotional disorder, it is always to check your medical first, then if everything is all good, you can rule out that issue. I speak both from a personal level - my anxiety will typically hit my gut first if I am off schedule on my meds, but also as an LCSW, I have often worked with clients with anxiety and have noticed that more often than not, it is women who seem to have gut issues with anxiety. If your shaky stomach goes away; I would think about becoming aware of when it happens and what you have done/eaten AND when it stops and what you have done/eaten right before it stopped.

I'm so glad to find this subject. I have had the same thing happen to me. I do have an anxiety disorder "Panic Attacks" and have been on medication for sometime. I just take my meds at night before I go to bed. I have spoken to my Dr. and she suggested I take it in the morning. It has really helped. 15 weeks out VS

A few things other than anxiety disorders can make you feel shakey and anxious - thyroid conditions, persistent low blood sugar, Vitamin and mineral deficiencies (I think that includes Vit B12), toxin build up (eg: pesticides, insect sprays) and some medications. Always worth getting a full medical checkup to rule out a physical cause first.

With it being first thing in the morning, have you considered low blood sugar? You need to have your fasting blood sugar checked. Of course there are many things that can cause this. I would talk to your PCP and have some labs done and go from there.

I take meds also for my depression and anxiety. I take mine morning and evening. It wasn't until I got my mood stable that I realized how bonkers I had been for probably 20 years or so. I don't know how my poor husband lived with me. :D

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
