AmandaRaeLeo 2,146 Posted November 15, 2012 Just gotta say... All this A Lighter Me and Ready for a Change coordinator drama is very off putting. It makes it hard for those of us who are putting our money, and more importantly, our lives in the hands of these surgeons to make the right decision, and trust in it. Dr. Garcia. Dr. Kelly. Dr. Lopez. What is true? What is crap? I think I may go back to my original choice. Dr. Ponce. There doesn't seem to be a drama factor and he is well reviewed by people on here. TheNEWME! 121 Posted November 15, 2012 What kind of drama are you experiencing??? I went with Ready4Achange and Dr. Garcia and could NOT be more happier! I was sleeved on Oct. 30th of this year and down 24 lbs! The care I received was excellent and the cooridantors were amazing and very compassionate. 1 JoJo57 reacted to this

AmandaRaeLeo 2,146 Posted November 15, 2012 Just another thread stating Dr Garcia has had several fatalities per coordinators, I think? I chose Dr. Lopez, but I am not okay with all this drama. It is discouraging. Who knows what is fact and what are lies to redirect business?
Threetimesacharm 1,400 Posted November 15, 2012 OP, if you are not okay with all the drama...................then don't read it. Seems to me to be for entertainment purposes only!! 2 Kiki74 and TheNEWME! reacted to this

AmandaRaeLeo 2,146 Posted November 15, 2012 OP' date=' if you are not okay with all the drama...................then don't read it. Seems to me to be for entertainment purposes only!![/quote'] It's kind of hard to miss and can plant worrisome seeds of doubt, as it is meant to do. Easier said than done to dismiss it with a "don't read it" when you're constantly researching. And who is going to clarify the facts from the drama? The coordinators? It's frustrating and a lil stressful. Amanda Rae
Kiki74 23 Posted November 15, 2012 I was sleeved by Dr. Garcia on Oct 5 and I am down 26lbs and that is not pre op weight loss all post op. I didn't experience any drama and my experience was great also. I have to agree with the other ladies, it seems that the post you are looking at are serving as entertainment. All the drama you speak of is created by rival Medical Tourism companies. Every doctor has a fatality rate in Mexico and in the States that's why everyone says do the research for yourself. Its a matter of choice and being comfortable with your choice. Dr. Garcia was wonderful and so was all the other staff. They were there when I needed them and they still respond to emails even with me being 6 wks post op. You have to stop feeding into the drama and choose based off of what's right for you! If your first was Dr. Ponce then go with him and don't worry about the rest.
Kiki74 23 Posted November 15, 2012 Yes, that is the best thing to do. Contact the coordinators Alma and Meli are great at Ready 4a Change they will answer any and all questions for you.
Kalipso2 25 Posted November 15, 2012 of course you're worried! i changed my mind on which surgeon to choose at least 3 times. when it comes down to it, there are good reviews AND bad reviews about every surgeon. only you can decide what to believe and who to trust. now, Dr. Almanza has both good and bad reviews. most of the bad reviews were all made in 2010 and he made a lot of staff changes and recovery location changes since 2010. my journey was a little different than most because i was revising from the lapband and the "norm" didn't happen in my case. i never even got to meet Dr. Almanaz... ever... which is why i won't review him personally or anything about my surgery. i'll only review about my recovery. i know it's hard, but try not to read too much into what everyone says! LezzieLez 180 Posted November 15, 2012 Ok, here is my view and I hope that I do not worry you further but.... Unless I am missing something, there isn't a review board or website that tells us how many deaths these surgeons have on their belts. We can ask them and they can tell us 1 or 100 - and we won't ever know the truth. I personally think Dr. Garcia's 1 is pure bullsh!t. 1 is so easy to say, and its excusable to us since we know that he has completed thousands of surgeries. Also, their total will not include the people who flew home and died or had complications. And will they ever take the responsibility for the death when everything looked good before leaving Mexico? NO We know the risks of the surgery in addition to the added risks associated with Medical Tourism. It is obvious that Dr. Garcia is a reputable surgeon (as well as the other 4-5 popular picks on the board) so I think it comes down to our pre-existing conditions, following the dietary guidelines, and the 1%. julielle 199 Posted November 15, 2012 I had heard that some coordinators were doing that to Dr Kelly but I hadn't heard about others. I don't think it's the surgeon's fault, but of course you don't want to support or give money to a coordinator that uses such business tactics. I think whichever surgeon you choose will be fine ultimately, but I do understand where you're coming from. I was quite happy with Trish (for Dr Ponce) if that helps.
