So I got a called from carewise today hoping it was good news. The Medical Director has reviewed my case finally. They asked me about being on an antidepressant and who prescribed it. I have been in it for 4 years. Well since my Eval by the social worker says I am not depressed, the medical director sees that as conflicting information and has ordered me to have an evaluation by a psychologist. Once they have that Eval then I am approved. At first I was very upset but now that I have calmed down, I am ok with it. At least I know this is finally going to happen but not as soon as I had hoped. I am hoping to have surgery by mid January.

So... I finally heard & it's not great news. I was denied bc my coordinator jumped the gun & submitted with missing pieces of information. They obviously didn't read the bulletin from Aetna which specifically states that they req 2 consecutive years wts. They only had medical records from 2009, which means I've been lied to &/or given misleading information multiple times by Aetna & my surgeons coordinator & her assistant. Last wk I had to re-request my records for my dr office (from old dr), which makes me crazy bc why did no1 realize that only having 2009 records was odd?!?? I switched drs a year ago. Im uber frustrated.

So now, we wait for the records...& hope it's not too late for the appeal...bc I've lost my trust in my coordinator at this point.

Surely it won't be too late to appeal. I hope it all works out.

Mwrarr- did u view the cpb in the midst of all this? It says the last 2 years and in parenthesis 24 months. That can be anything where your weight was recorded. Gyn, ER, weight watchers weigh in etc...

I dont think its too late. Hang in there. Approvl is on the way!

I knew that...but apparently my coordinator thought it was ok to ignore it...? Ugh. The hardest part for me to understand is how they saw that I only had one prior years med records in my file & didnt question it. Just filed without even caring. Ugh. I'm an insurance agent myself & i know all about these companies & what they'll do to deny you. A tiny little mistake like this is just completely unprofessional. I'm so just smh... Thank you ladies, so much. I appreciate your good vibes more than I can express.

Had my pshychiatrist appt today. It really wasn't that bad as fat as the interview went. The bad part was filling out the test that had 567 questions. OMG! I thought my arm was going to fall off. It will be submitted to the surgeon's office by Friday. I hope to have a surgery date by the middle of next week. Say a prayer for me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
