fyre_storm 1,412 Posted November 15, 2012 Yes it's all possible. Remember the sleeve has a 60% success rate. Just follow the diet and try to follow the rules. 1 LHT reacted to this
CowgirlJane 14,260 Posted November 15, 2012 Regain is possible after ANY weight loss surgery. I don't think it happens because of the stomach stretching out to its original size, it is more subtle then that. To be successful over the long haul you do need to committ to "following the guidelines" and making radical lifestyle changes. I had your same worry and my sleep apnea doc pointed out something. He asked me if I regained half the weight I lost over 5 or 10 years did I not think the improved quality of life during that time was worth it? Did I not think that even if I only kept half off.... isn't that still better? I decided he was right and that I needed to keep fighting the obesity battle. I am determined to make the sleeve work for the long haul but regain is definately one of the "risks" of WLS. 1 LHT reacted to this

iggychic 1,405 Posted November 15, 2012 When do u get da guidelines for da long haul ??? From your nutritionist likely, or you can just follow the USDA guidelines for a healthy diet. Weight regain is most likely at two years out. Some do regain significant weight but most only gain a small amount of their previous excess. 1 LHT reacted to this
CowgirlJane 14,260 Posted November 15, 2012 I have had the guidelines for the long haul from the beginning. This isn't a diet, and while it is true that you can and do eat more the further you are out from surgery, the basic guidelines remain the same. Protein, veggies and no junk food. Minimal whole grain/fruit sourced carbs. Don't drink with meals and eat small portions. Same as when you are losing weight... 1 LHT reacted to this
