My biggest fear was not beingbtuere for my kids. That is also what pushed me to have the surgery. I chose my Dr becuase they were a center of excellence. I also chose him because he conducted the seminar I attended and I was very impressed with him. I have lost 61lbs in 3.5 months. The changes have been phenomenal. I can breathe again. I can play with my kids again. My joints dont hurt.........the list goes on. I would do it again in a second.

My biggest fear about The surgery was not coming out alive. Biggest fear being the reason I had surgery, not living to see my daughter grow and become an adult.

My reason for having it is what's stated above. And I was tired of being tired. I want to talk up a flight of stairs and not feel winded. Buy clothes from a regular store. Not worry if I'll fit in the rides at an amusement park with my daughter.

I saw a few doctors but picked mine in the end because he's one of the best. And I know 5 people who had surgery by him all with amazing results

My biggest fear was surviving the first month after surgery. My aunt had her stomach stapled back in the 80's and died from complications.

I choose the sleeve after having a failed Lapband that ulcerated. The sleeve does not have the malabsorption issues the bypass has and it does not stretch like the band and bypass does.

My doctor was recommended by another physician.

The risks are that if any other surgery as far as the sleeve there's also less than a 1% risk of a leak. The benefits are that it offers healthy weightloss with a better chance if maintaining a healthy weight for the rest if my life.

My asthma, fibromyalgia, anxiety, and hypothyroidism are all under control. I hope to be off most if my meds within the next few months. I still have back and neck pain as I have herniated discs, however, I expect that to resolve too with the weightloss.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
