Surgery is Dec 3rd. I've been trying to decide who I was going to tell my surgery to. I just told my Facebook people which is family, friends and high school people. I decided to tell people because it's a major life change and I want to share my loss with them. Who is everyone telling? And any negative feedback from people?

I have told many people because I needed childcare help, etc. I have not had a single negative comment.

I have told my closest friends, my family, and a few FB friends...so far EVERYONE is excited for me. I told my boss too, as I took some time off, and she is excited as well.

Eventually I will tell all of FB and work ( of course will notice ), but I want to wait until I am done.

I told my coworkers. Not all so supportive. A lot of, "are you sure you want to do this?" Of course I'm sure- sure enough to go through 6 mos of nutrition & prep and research- and sure enough to tell you. My close friends & family are very supportive, but only my very close friends & family know. Extended family mostly does not know- but eventually, ESP @ Christmas when I can't eat anything I suppose they will find out. I've shared with other ppl I know who are overweight like me too- so they can know my journey if they decide choose weight loss surgery, and know I am there for them. Over all- I'm scared to tell ppl, because I have experienced the negativity, and it hurts. I'm so excited for me, and I don't want anyone dimming the happiness of my new start.

This is EXACTLY why I don't want to share with most co-workers. I get that they care, and they want to make sure I researched it ( they for the most part have not)...and since I don't talk about it with them, to them it may seem like a sudden thing. They have no idea this is all I have thought about since 2009! So I figure best to tell them when I'm done...once it's done they can say all they wont. I feel before hand we need all the positive we get to encourage us, help motivate us to not only lose, but to heal as well.Let us be the example of "Look I did it..I beat the odds"! Then we can say "neeener neeener neeener"... :P

Congratulations are definitely in order! So much excitement in the air for December surgeries! My date is 12/3 and all of the excitement around my upcoming surgery is a natural high! Again' date=' congrats![/quote']

Do you have to do the carnation instant Breakfast , sf Jello & sf Popsicles? That's all I'm allowed to have starting tomorrow until surgery 12/3.

I have also only told a few people, my Dad and my Husband, who will both be there the day of surgery and 2 close girlfriends... Also 1 person at work knows.... Like MeltingMamma said, other people have not done the research like we have and honestly, I'm not ready for the judgement. Eventually I will tell the rest of my family (after surgery) however I don't think I will ever tell coworkers... I just worry that some people wont get it and I will be accused of taking the "east way out" (which WE all know is not true) and/ or that those same people will diminish my accomplishments simply because I didn't lose the weight in the way they think I should....

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
