Banded by Dr. Kuri on 09/23/06

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, my surgery was 3 1/2 weeks ago. I am scheduled for my first fill exactly 4 weeks from my surgery.

Until Saturday night I have not had any problems. However, on Saturday night I ate way too much food and I have been experiencing low/mid back pain (on the left side) every since. Does anyone know what is causing this pain?

Hello TG, and welcome. You've got your first fill coming up soon. I like your pies, by the way.

Hi,

I'm not banded yet, next month, most likely with Dr. Kuri. So I can't answer your question about the back. Hopefully someone will get back to you soon.

My question to you is, does Dr. Kuri stitch the stomach area to prevent slippage? I heard that was the best thing for Doctor's to do.

Also, can you tell me of your experience with Dr. Kuri?? Anything you can will be helpful. I am on the fence in deciding on 2 doctors. Dr. Kuri or Dr. Ortiz

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
