teen72381 29 Posted November 15, 2012 I am 7 weeks post op, I was sleeved on 9/26, and I can't stand the thought of eating at least 80% of the time. I am at the point where I am reintroducing foods. I am now nearly intolerant to all dairy, chicken no matter how moist, small cut or shredded doesn't stay down. If I eat something one time and try it again later it now makes me sick. I'm doing great with weight loss and all my bloodwork was great at my six week checkup. I still know this was the best decision I made, but as I sit here typing this I am fighting to keep down the 3 baby carrots, 4 small cubes of potatoes and sliver of roast beef I ate down. The doctor said this isn't uncommon, but I need someone who has been through this to tell me that it gets better. Now excuse me, I have lost the battle to keep dinner down. She finds that dark meat stays down much easier than white meat because White meat is tough and dry. I was told to avoid carrots because they have sugar, and potatoes have a lot of starch. CBT 450 Posted November 16, 2012 Sounds like you could return to previous stage and try again in a week. Just may be too soon. Beans and lentils, other than dairy, were my staples before I could tolerate meat. Lots of sleevers start on fish and shellfish. Seems better tolerated than meat. It does get better. Smooth_Sleever229 20 Posted November 16, 2012 I'm just a pass exactly where you are and I'm not even out of the woods yet. Believe me it a slow process, I hated eating. As of late I've learned to take it slow, even thought you doctor says you can start eating certain things I learned you can't just dive in. Baby-steps it will get better little by little. delta_girl 931 Posted November 16, 2012 Sometimes I dread eating, even when I may be hungry. I know that most often it is not going to be fun anymore. It isn't usually very comfortable, either. The first few bites or swallows will probably result in some shifting around down my esophagus or a bit of trapped air. Then there is the mystery of if my stomach is going to like it or not. I have been fortunate that chicken works ok, but I'm not yet to the point where I'm eating all foods yet. I even revert back to my Stage I or Stage II diet because my stomach likes those things much more than others. I wouldn't trade it for my old stomach, though. Are eating your Protein first? Maybe you are having acid reflux, Are you on any PPI. Nexium, Prilosec, Prevacid ? Can you tell when you are full before you get to the throwing up stage? Are you measuring your food? At 11wks I can only eat 2 oz of Protein ( ckn, tuna, fish, grnd beef) I never have room for veggies , fruits or starches. I still drink two shakes a day. I ask some questions just to see if there was something that would help find the cause of your problem. Remember your stomach might still be sore and tender. jessica2008 3 Posted November 16, 2012 I am 4 months out and still dread eating most of the time cos it feels so uncomfortable i was just finding a food that my stomach tolerated and eating the same thing till i was sick of it i have managed to move past that and have more variety now but still only get in a few nites at each sitting so i have taken to putting my dinner back in the fridge and trying again in an hour or so so that i can attempt to finish my small serving of food i also dish my meals up on small plates not dinner plates to help with my portions my biggest problem is i dont care about eating anymore most of the time anyway and rarley get hungry. Tolerating foods will get easier the only thing i cant really eat is bready things it just fills me slmost like i can feel it expanding in my stomach ewww.
