hey guys so i am in the process of speaking with Trish to get everything set up but I of course am worried about the financing situation. I have pretty bad credit so I don't even know if I will be approved or not but I just got a much higher paying job recently? Do any of you other Ponce Patients have bad credit that got financed?

I did not have Dr Ponce but my credit is........interesting and I was approved through MedicalFinancing Co. One thing you have to be prepared for are the fees to borrow money. At least with Medical financing I required a security deposit (which would come back to me when the loan was paid off) and loan fees. In total I will pay about $2800 in loan fees. $1700 of that will come back to me. These are NOT rolled into the loan and they won't fund the doctor until you pay it.

If you're going through his office direct, the guidelines might be less stringent.

No, I heard that people were not very happy with that program so I opted not to go with them. I applied through medical financing.com and was approved for 8500, And was turned down at a few other places. You may want to check to make sure that they will fund surgery through your doctor but I believe they do most of the Mexico surgeons.

I was to that several of the docs do not use the No Patient left Behind program. They said it was a rip off. I decided no to use it when I heard that. They require you to pay half up front. I couldn't afford to take a chance with my money.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
