Whitegirl56 1 Posted November 14, 2012 I am on the pre-op diet for 2 days now, doing good, will have my surgery on 11-21-12 at St. Marys in Grand Rapids MI. Thank God it is the day before Thanksgiving or I would be up 20 pounds during the Holidays. I can't wait for the new me(o: So any advise would be great, worried about the day of surgery and the pain. How awake are you when you come out of surgery, and how soon do they get you up walking?
notime 340 Posted November 14, 2012 I awoke from the anesthesia; spoke my first word, "pain"; was immediately given pain meds that knocked me out and woke up in my hospital bed. I had no pain after that one moment, even when I went home, except for the normal small amount of pain accompanying stretching of the largest incision site. They let me decide when to start walking, but provided lots of encouragement. I was walking a short distance the first evening.
Aaron in Tulsa 147 Posted November 14, 2012 I don't remember a thing from the recovery room. In fact, I don't remember anything until about 6 hours after surgery! Evidently, I was talking coherently with my wife in my room, but I don't remember it. When I "came to" 6 hours after surgery, I took a walk and then walked every hour through the night because I couldn't sleep in the hospital bed. Went home the following morning. 1 Bukki reacted to this
Whitegirl56 1 Posted November 14, 2012 Thanks that helps, I hope I have no pain, but we live in a real world. I do good after surgery, so I am hoping. Thanks again
