Colunga65 8 Posted November 14, 2012 Hello everyone. Im a lap band conversion to sleeve person. Had too many issues with the lap band, so they removed it Sept 28. I was excited to get the sleeve but this procedure almost killed me. I had my procedure and was out of the surgery center within 5 hrs of when surgery started. Is it just me or is that the norm. Two days later, i was admitted into ICU for sever dehydration. At that point i had lost 13 lbs in two days. All i can say is i hope i made the right decision for me, but still teeter on thinking i messed up. Would i do this surgery again if i had to.. NO WAY!! This surgery was very hard on me. Tomorrow I'm three weeks out, how are people feeling at this point, and what are you eating.
CoCo41 54 Posted November 14, 2012 No that's not normal, it gets better from here I promise. I was just sleeved and with Dr. Morales you automatically do a two night inpatient stay in case any problems arise. I believe each Dr does it differently unfortunately. Sorry you had such a hard expirence. I wish you luck! 1 christi_86 reacted to this
christi_86 8 Posted November 14, 2012 No that is the normal surgery time. I was sleeved 10/5/12 ... I was out in 3hrs, & was allowed liquids the following morning after the upper GI test. Like Coco said things will only get better. In one month I have lost 65 lbs & I am also off of insulin & my diabetes meds were also lowered! Hang in there & good luck! 1 Colunga65 reacted to this
Colunga65 8 Posted November 14, 2012 Christie..yes i forgot about the upper gi..omg.. I thought i was going to pee all over the floor. I would gag and pee, sorry for the tmi.. Not very nice. Wow..65 lbs..EXCELLENT!!! The last time I was weighed, u was told i weighed 220. I see my Dr next Friday, curious to see what the scale says but I'm sure its no where near your accomplishment.. christi_86 8 Posted November 14, 2012 After surgery I had alot of nausea & gas! It was horrible, as they wheeled me to the upper GI test I was throwing up all the way! Once they gave me that nasty contrast to drink I dont even know how I was able to keep it down during the test!
Colunga65 8 Posted November 15, 2012 Christi.. That was me. The contrast was horrible. But by the next day i was in the icu ward. Don't remember too much. I think i was slipping into a coma. This procedure kicked my butt
