2 pounds a week is very realistic and healthy! I say "be happy for any loss instead of a gain!" :)

Yes, that would be a good loss. I'm only losing about a pound a week at this point...

wendy (aka NEWBIE)

hey bud

look me straight in the eyes - come on straight in the eyes and listen up B)

You're down 17 lbs within 5 weeks WooHoo

that's terrific!!!! when was the last time you lost that amount???

you "might" have done that before - but this time you'll be able to keep this weight and more to follow, off - as long as you work with your new best friend - the sleeve

Celebrate every inch, ounce, lb of difference in measurements and weight

"2 lbs a week is very realisic and healthy"

great words of wisdom from UTGal99

now UT, i'd like that payoff for saying that per our agreement in 20 $1.00 bills!!! ;)

NO one loses weight in the same time period, amount of weight etc. that others do.

We're all different in everything regarding weightloss

you are barely 5 weeks PO - you can't even say you are a slow loser - you are barely out of the gate!!

keep doing what you are doing, follow basic guidelines for sleeveland and see where the chips land!!

stop drinking 15-30 minutes before you eat, don't drink during your meals, or Snacks - don't drink after you eat for about 45 - 60 minutes - AND drink as much water/liquids as possible - 64 oz daily at least

chew each bite to little pieces til basically mush in your mouth, (yeach  )

put silverware down between bites - take a 2-3 minute break before you eat again - eat your meal very slowly, you are in no hurry - despite what i used to think pre WLS - no one is going to grab the plate away from you

also suggested to put your measured food on/in small bowl - i bought a banded amount of those baby sized plates/bowls - makes it look like you are eating more than you really are

these are all basic rules that most NEWBIES et al know, good "material" can never be repeated too often

above measurements, drinks, directions, et al should be given to you by your NUT - and her explicit directions should always be followed!!

i didn't follow "the rules" most of my life - thats why i dealt with the battle of the bulge up and down most of my adult life

NEWBIES et al might have expected to go to bed one night PO - and wake up with ALL their weight gone, out the window, down the toilet etc. - Notttt - doesn't work that way

you'll be great, enjoy your new, healthier, happier days for the rest of your longer llife!!!!

God Grant Me Patience, Just Hurry Up About It!!!!!

take care bud

aka NEWBIE :)

hope i didn't sound to "preachy"

At week 7, going into week 8 I've noticed that (unless I'm stalling) I average 2 - 2.5 lbs per week. That is about 10 lbs per month, which I have seen in many posts as a reasonable expectation. If you have a lot more weight to lose then it may go faster.

With that said, there are probably some things you can do to provide an advantage, such as frequent, high intensity work outs that keep your heart rate in its target zone and drinking more Water.

I'm the same way. Had surgery Nov. 2nd. I weighed 212. Went to Dr. Nov. 10th and weighed 208...then next appointment Nov. 17th weighed 202lbs. Today the 26th nine days later and I finally broke 199 this morning. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed. I just didn't think it would take me 5 mths. to get there...sure hope it doesn't but I have a feeling it will. I do NOT regret having it done however. I just thought the weight would come off a little faster. I'm 5'6 so I'd be happy at 150.

Glad to see your still plugging along.

I'm just over three months and 41.5lb down since op, 54.5lb all up (pre 2 week diet). I know I'm not the slowest loser, but wish it was faster. I have come to terms with it and just accept because I'm so much happier now than I've been since I was a small child. My shape is so different and my husband never stops complimenting me, I really love this!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
