Scout1234 161 Posted November 13, 2012 Just got my surgery date......12/19. I know, it seems crazy to do this right before X-Mas but for work it is a no brainer. Starting to research and plan my menu. At this point all I can think about is getting this journey with my new tool started.
Traci J. 207 Posted November 13, 2012 Hi Scout, I am also scheduled 12/19 due to work reasons. I hope you have a quick recovery; and just have yourself some eggnog if you can for x-mas : That's what I plan to do, 1 whole swallow of it at least. That'll fill me up for a bit. lol
Scout1234 161 Posted November 14, 2012 Traci, Good luck to you, it might be hard to watch everyone eating all of the X-Mas goodies but I must admit that I have had my fair share in the past! Not so sure that egg nog will be high on my list! LOL That stuff is pretty thick, even for a liquid! Scout
Caroline G 25 Posted November 14, 2012 Hi! I am also having my sleeve done just before Christmas (12/11) but like you said, I've had more than my share in the past and I wouldn't be in this position if I could handle these situations well. It actually is good, I think, because then the pressure of eating is off. There will be other Christmases. I have been waiting over a year for this and I would rather get it done at this time than to hold off just so I can overeat at Christmas. Good luck to you both and I look forward to comparing notes once we are going through it. Caroline
Scout1234 161 Posted November 14, 2012 Caroline, Are you doing any type of pre-op diet? I am waiting to hear from my Dr. on what I have to do but I already started on my own by reading the materials they provided. I also started walking for 30 mins on the treadmill, not that I expect to be in shape by the 19th of December but I thought I might be a little stronger for surgery. I know its a mental thing but it makes me feel better!! LOL Scout
Caroline G 25 Posted November 14, 2012 Scout, I start my official pre-op diet Nov 27th, which is two weeks before my surgery. For this, I only can have the Protein shakes, Water, crystal light, broth, Jello and one light meal per day. The day before surgery, I can have one additional Protein shake, Water or crystal light. Until then, I have been working with my nutritionist on reducing my carbs as much as possible and increasing my Protein to prepare myself for future changes. This has helped me lose about 10-12 pounds. That is great that you are exercising now. That should definitely help with getting back into exercise after the surgery which will help your weight loss and make you feel a lot better also.
