Not Full After 2 Weeks

Recommended Posts

Hi

So, I had my op on Oct 31. Am drinking the entire mixed shake without feeling full. Have eaten a whole tin of Soup and still not full. Weight is already yo-yoing..

Help!

I wasn't full on liquids either. It takes solids- Protein to fill me up. The first time I ate grilled chicken was when I knew I had done the right thing by having this surgery. One small grilled chicken nugget from Chick Fil A filled me up and was so great! You will be fine, just hang in there until you get to real food!

I agree I was 11/2 and can easily think an 11oz Protein Shake but when I started eating puréed meats, cottage cheeses, refrained Beans etc, I started to feel full. It is a slightly different full but it is full. I suggest measure your food and then stop after eating it slowly and then wait. You will be full. You just have to then wait out your 45 minutes to an hour and start on your Water intake. It works!

I had the same problem on liquids and was terrified that this wasn't going to work for me... once they start letting me eat solids it was a whole new ball game and I'm full on nearly nothing. Even my children laugh at how little I can eat.

I say consider yourself lucky because for me being like that has made this entire process pretty easy... I can tolerate most foods and have no problem getting my shakes down :) .

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
