To be honest I am not ready to have a baby. I can barely eat with out morning sickness. I am soooo miserble and I don't believe I can be healthy or keep my baby healthy now.... I really need a year or more. Anyway I am overwhelmed right now.

I don't have much advice for pregnancy after vsg but I had morning noon and night sickness all 9 months. I couldn't even keep Water down. I couldn't get Vitamins or liquid down, so I frequented the ER. Ask your ob if they can set up weekly or daily iv fluids and Vitamins. I lost 45 pounds in the first trimester.

All this and my daughter was born healthy (well other than a brain hemorrhage caused by the doctors). But she was fully developed and full term. Find a doctor that specializes in high risk and ask how they would proceed.

Try not to freak out ;). Although I dont blame you if you did.

I too suffered with hyperemesis and the constant spitting (sorry TMI) during both of my pregnancies thus the 9 year age difference. Said I was not going through that again. I was put on medication in the second pregnancy and it worked so ask your doctor for something. No need for you to suffer.

Hugs

What does that even mean?

The typical "natural miscarriage" (the only correct kind) is to have a miscarriage that happens naturally, not induced with drugs or other poisons to the fetus and to not have a D&C afterwards. All of my miscarriages were "natural" because I didn't need the further procedure.

Then there is the bad kind...people choose to poison their fetus (done with drugs or herbs that will damage it) which often leads to nothing more than a brain damaged, or physically damaged baby who makes it to term carrying the maiming their parents chose to inflict on them.

If you are not ready to have this child, I carry no judgement and suggest you consider a medical abortion before it's too late legally. But don't try to kill your fetus on your own....that's nothing more than torture when it does not work.

We shared a room at Hopkins with a little girl from Mexico who had experienced her mother attempting an herbal "natural" abortion. Half an arm and severe mental disturbances due to the damage done to her brain...and she was only 3. Don't be a fool...don't do this to a child you don't want. There are pain free options for the fetus you can easily take advantage of verses attempting to kill it on your own.

And miscarriage "natural miscarriage" is an easy way to say abortion for many. I'm not against abortion...but when you knowingly remove a viable fetus from your body it's an abortion. Clear and simple, no matter how you label it. When I was pregnant I had testing done on each fetus to determine if it carried any serious issues (down syndrome etc). Had I have had a down's child I would have aborted the fetus. NEVER would I have taken that medical procedure into my own hands.

Perfectly stated IggyChic. What you choose to do is up to you and only you will have to live with it. Just make sure it's YOUR decision, not one influenced by other people...whether it's on this site or in your life. Let it sink in for a couple of days and let that initial shock wear off first. Good luck Honey.

I personally think you should try talking to your Dr. first to see what can be done for antinausea meds or IV fluids. That is a very big decision that may impact your life. There may be a way to feel better AND have your little one. Just my 2 cents! Good Luck!

Are you saying going on IV ...I don't understand.

I already has terrible acid reflux that have gotten under control. I am soooo sick. I don't think I would be healthy at all.

You poor thing! Have you talked to your Dr. about this? Your surgeon as well as your OB? I think they are going to be the best to take advice from. So you are 6 months out? You should be able to get enough in to where it would be adequate nutrition for both you and baby. Maybe more frequent smaller meals and add the Protein Shakes in again. Morning sickness is temporary for most people. This is one of those topics where it is such a touchy subject where someone always gets upset. I am only saying what I would do. I would deal with the morning sickness and feel like crap and be miserable for a short time for my baby. I would just talk to your Dr's to see what can be done to make you feel better. ((Hugs))

She was sleeved six months ago, she hasn't said how far along she is, but I assumed due to the comments on self aborting she was just recently pregnant...at least I hope so. At six months such an action would be murder...I''m sure she didn't mean that!

Based on when I had sex...it could only be 2weeks.

Sorry, to clarify I was asking how far out she was from the surgery not pregnancy! :)

And to add, since you are only 2 weeks pregnant, maybe you will be lucky and not have morning sickness at all? I did not have it hardly at all with both my children. Just a tiny bit on a few occassions.

You are two weeks late? (making you 30 days into a pregnancy) or its been two weeks since unprotected sex? At a month into a 40 week pregnancy you aren't normally producing enough HCG to be sick...but some people are really early producers. If this is about morning sickness, there are cures for that (they have a pill you can take that makes it go away...it's often given to sleevers while in the hospital and it's safe for a fetus). But I would sense that this is about more than just morning sickness....

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
