ashleytn 48 Posted November 12, 2012 I had my surgery on October 3rd. Maybe 1 week after surgery I started having very dark brown discharge. I started my BC on October 29. It stopped it for not even a week. Should I call my OBGYN about the discharge? There is no blood, just very very dark brown discharge. It's driving me crazy!! Ima Loser 197 Posted November 12, 2012 Since it is dark brown it could be old blood... I would call you Gyno just to be sure. Better safe then sorry!
Katnroyal 225 Posted November 12, 2012 I would just call your gyno, it's probably nothing! I started mine the week after surgery.
ashleytn 48 Posted November 12, 2012 I would just call your gyno' date=' it's probably nothing! I started mine the week after surgery.[/quote'] I thought the same thing. But I'm 6 weeks out (on Wednesday) and I'm on birth control.

RawrrAshleex3 137 Posted November 17, 2012 A lot of girls get some sort of discharge or full blown period right after. Mines is ALL sorts of off. It ended a week before my surgery, I got it a few days after my surgery, missed a month and a week or so, got it full charge on and off about 3 weeks, the next time on time, missed about a month and a half (scared the day lights out of my dr lol) got it reeeeeeally bad after that, and haven't gotten it since. That was about 2ish months? since I guess? I'm def not preggo! I'm just enjoying no cramps or hassle
midwifeshannon 3 Posted November 17, 2012 When you lose a lot of weight rapidly it does a number on your estrogen/progesterone which can cause you to have spotting, discharge, longer periods, etc.
*susan* 1,709 Posted November 17, 2012 My advice is, it never hurts to give a quick call to your doctors office. Usually they have a nurse who takes those calls, and she will be able to tell you whether it is something you need to be concerned with or not.
ashleytn 48 Posted November 17, 2012 Thanks ladies. I've had this discharge for basically 6 weeks straight now. I was very busy at work last week, so I'm calling on Monday.
elindoll88 92 Posted November 18, 2012 I spotted heavily for the first 3-4 months after surgery. I'm just lately starting to get back to normal.

elindoll88 92 Posted November 18, 2012 I read somewhere that it might have had to do with the blood thinners they give you in the hospital. Might.
