Did any of you feel like your having a food funeral before surgery? Almost like eat what you want cause your never getting it again? I really don't want to gain anymore weight before my surgery in the new year but I think well why not eat it cause I won't be able to after surgery..

I still eat some of my guilty pleasures. I didn't have a funeral bc I didn't want to mess up my preop diet.

Well I attended a few funerals before surgery date. I did ensure I still lost the weight I needed to and I didnt do it the last few days because I didnt want to inflate the liver with a last burst of FAT. It did not har m me, but I have heard others mention how their surgery was delayed because of liver still being too big.. I totally understand where you are coming from though..

I felt that way but wish I didn't. I just made me feel sicker going into the pre-op liquid diet.< /p>

Funny concept. I thought of it like a "bucket list," as has been asked elsewhere: do you have a food bucket list for before surgery. I put Five Guys (done!) and Chipotle on my list. Not because I don't think I'll ever eat those things again, but because I'll never have those portions again. That burger is giant! So is Chipotle's burrito. It will never be the same again!

Don't do it! I went crazy eating everything I could get my hands on before surgery because i thought "ill never get to eat it again". I gained like and extra

15 lbs before surgery. Ill be 2 months post op on the 17th and I can still eat the foods I thought I wouldn't be able too.

For the 4 days prior to surgery, I gave myself permission to eat whatever I wanted to without guilt. A funny thing happened, I didn't go crazy and shovel in Big Macs and Hershey's Kisses. lol

We went to our favorite, little dive Mexican place. I ended up ordering fajitas! And we went to Texas de Brazil and I ate mostly filet mignon!

I love Texas De Brazil. My last meal is either going to be there or red lobster ;-)

I tried thinking of my favorite foods to eat before I started my pre-op diet but my mind went blank! I couldn't think of anything that I wanted to binge on...I think I changed my relationship with food the day I decided to have the surgery.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
