First Day Of "soft" Food... Already Not Going Well...

Omigosh!!! Roasted garlic is sooo good! I recently made it at home for the 1st time & ate like 4 cloves by themselves!! Lol used the rest like butter...spread much easier than I was expecting.

We do it 2 ways...

My favourite way is:

1. Spray a muffin pan with non-stick spray.

2. Cut the tops off your whole garlics so that the cut shows a clear cross-cut of each clove. It will look like a bundle of tubes (sorta)

3. Pull off the really loose outer flaky layers.

4. Place one head per cup in the pan.

5. Lightly spray each head w/non-stick spray & sprinkle with seasonings (salt, pepper, Rosemary, etc)

6. Bake at 275-300 for abt 15 min. They are done when you see some of the cloves pop out of their spots. Not all will.

The other way is:

1. Peel & separate all the heads/cloves.

2. Spray a baking sheet w/non-stick spray.

3. Spread the naked cloves on the sheet.

4. Lightly spray with non-stick spray & season.

5. Bake at 275-300 for abt 15 min. The cloves will brown a little.

You might want to keep an eye on them the 1st time you make them. The cloves will be really squishy when they're done. :}

Thanks for all the tibbits!! I'm starting week 2 but want to prepare week 3 when I grocery shop. So' date=' let me get this right:

cottage cheese

tuna

refried Beans

milk

Soups

mashed potatoes

crab

egg

That sounds good, but I am still not allowed carbs... No Beans or mashed potatoes! I am allowed no more than 30 gr of carbs daily...

I'm three weeks out tomorrow I'm only allowed soft eggs, any style. But no meat. String cheese, Jello, broth etc.. And my doc said absolutely no Protein Shakes or bars. I don't get it. I have talked with other people and they started shakes the next day after surgery. Hum.. I wonder why the difference

I am three weeks out. Weeks 1-4 allowed Protein Shakes, sf clear drinks, sf ice pops and Jello and broth. Week 5 add yogurt, cottage cheese and ricotta cheese. Week 6 add soft Protein like string cheese, laughing cow wedge, retried Beans, Soups blended. Week 8 add soft chicken, turkey, fish and eggs.< /p>

I remember the first time I roasted garlic, my son came in the house and said

"mom why are you burning tires"

When I started on soft food, I could only eat about 3 bites, and I had to wait awhile in between them.

The ricotta bake is a good recipe for the soft stage.

take ricotta cheese and mix in an egg and mozzarella cheese and Parmesan if you like that. cover it with spaghetti sauce and bake it. yummy!

...when I told the nutritionist that the dr told me at week 2 that I could have yogurt and sf Jello she was like ok if the dr told you then ok. I don't understand why every dr has different guidelines. So I am thinking is it ok to advance sooner than what dr says. I see MANY others seem to have a more lenient plane to follow than me. Would it really be bad to have an egg or cottage cheese before my dr says its ok? I think my dr is a bit more stricter than others even though he let me have the yogurt at two weeks.

Jayne . My Dr told me at two weeks i can start eggs, any style..cottage cheese.. String cheese.. Broths..jellos.. He said for me not to have any Protein Shakes or bars. He said right now he is not concerned for me to start Vitamins either, until he sees me at the one month mark. I don't understand either why do different Drs have different rules. My Co worker has the sleeve and she was started on Protein shakes the day after surgery. She takes muscle milk. I was told muscle milk is bad as the Iron levels can be to toxic to us.

People are always anxious to start eggs. A lot of people have said that eggs don't really agree with them early out. Eggs don't seem to be all that sleeve friendly.

The best thing to do is try a bite and see how it sits. You have to go really slow and chew it up until it's liquid in your mouth. Then wait, and see how you feel.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
