To Sleeve Or Not To Sleeve (Surgery Tomorrow)

Recommended Posts

Hey all! Starting to get extra nervous about getting surgery tomorrow. A part of me tells myself that I should try extra hard on my own to lose this weight, because you have to try either way, but a part of me says, "do it".. I'm very confused. Please help! I'm really nervous about feeling awful after surgery too. Do I want my stomach cut and stapled for life? What if I get too small? I love thickness and would never wanna be a skinny girl.

Hehe, the muscle you keep is back to me hun.

I have similar male comparitive view and much have always prefered some extra in this at least with some one for me, this is a hard thing to see with out being there..

I think what you are thinkng also a few times each day about the huge change to be, its going to be worth it for numerous more reasons than the ones that would stop me from doing it, lots of luck.

My understanding is you can always gain it back easily. Being sleeved is a way to help you change your eating habit for the rest of your life it s not to lose wait . You need to make up your mind now what is most important to you to be healthy or overweight , unhealthy , and miserable? that is how I look at it. Give the rest to God and pray. I wish you all the best I will be praying for either way. Letha know please.

Gosh, you have come this far so just do it. Everyone has this anxiety about the surgery. But there's a reason you've come this far and that's because you want a healthier life. This is the beginning of a new journey to a healthier happier life style. This is one of the safer surgeries around. you will only feel awful for the first few days and it does get easier every day........JUST DO IT! :)

Or you could have terrible complications and feel horrific. Let's not sugar coat it.

Do you really want, and are you committed to this surgery. It will change your life, and yes you can stay "thick" or get thin, whatever you wish, so that worry isn't a real concern. Will it hurt and will you struggle after surgery, yes, most likely for some time as you deal with the changes in your body and food restrictions. But why on earth did you sign up for this in the first place if you didn't understand that? There must be a reason and if there was, you need to be thinking about that reason and why you want to either move forward or change your mind. If you decide not to proceed, you need to ask yourself what else you are going to do to accomplish whatever your goal was in deciding on this surgery.....

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
