Hello all, i'm so glad i found this place. My name is Trish, and im newly 25. I've been overweight my entire life, which is weird considering i weighed 2lbs at birth. Anyways, im tired of being fat. I'm tired of working my ass off at the gym and eating right to see no results what so ever. My dr even tried putting me on phentermine. The first month i lost 9 lbs, 2nd month i lost 1 lb, and after that it seems like the pill stopped working all together. I weigh about 255. My BMI is 42. I'm seriously looking into having the lapband done. I think i've finally reached the point where im ready to have surgery. My mom had the gastric done, and is literaly half if not more the person she used to be. I've been browsing this site and looking at the before and after pics and i'm just so amazed.

I guess basically what im saying is i'm ready for a change. I'm tye 1 diabetic since ive been 12, and im hypertension.

I guess i'm just looking for advice and support. Anyways nice meeting you all.

Trish

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
