Band Removal And Sleeve.

Recommended Posts

I will be getting a revision and I might have to do a two part surgery, the removal then heal and then the sleeve. Anyone gone thru this?! We (doc and I) are hoping ill be in good shape once she is in there and do both at once but if there is too much swelling, irritation scar tissue from the band it will have to be two steps... I did the floro X-ray and everything looks mellow I have three months till I can even do the removal but still wanna soak up as much info as possible! Any input would be great!

I had my revision in Mexico on Sept 10th. I did not have any stomach issues with my band but one bout of extreme heartburn. If your stomach is okay now you should have no issues.......good luck

Mindy, let me know how it goes!! Are you doing your pre op diet just in case he can do the surgery? That's what my doctors plan is.

Amazon, They did the removal and sleeve in one surgery? How did you feel? What were and are your stats if you don't mind me asking!

I had my revision surgery on 11-14-2012 after surgery they told me the band removal went fine and they were able to repair a hiatal hernia , that was a surprise to them ( and me ) and sleeve me in one procedure. I was SO relieved to have had it done in once procedure. The day after surgery I started throwing up Water and unable to keep it down .( after they did the leak test is when it started , throwing up the barium ) After a couple more tried they ordered an EGD for me . They told me if the scope went through easily then and showed no obstructions I should be fine and not need another surgery , but if it did not I could have excess scar tissue from the band and I could need another surgery . WHAT !! Yikes . So they did it and it showed no obstruction some swelling around the band area ( where the band was ) they told me to take liquids slow . For several days I was still throwing up just water, in fact it freaked me out because it looked like I was throwing up some blood as well. Finally around day 3 or so the water was staying down . So finally I was able to go home today . NOT an easy process that's for sure , but I am glad its over. The doc told me to progress my liquids slowly , as long as I was keeping liquids down I was fine , the minute i started if i did throwing up liquids I needed to come back . But to just take it slow . So here goes ! Cross your fingers everything stays down now .

Yes I had the complete revision done on one surgery: removal of band and sleeve performed. My surgeon was absolutely fantastic! I had no real pain, no gas, up walking right after surgery(very important). I am 10.5 weeks and have lost 48 pounds as of two days ago!! Couldn't be happier!

its normal to be nervous about it , You just have to make sure you KNOW all there is to know about it and You KNOW you can do this ! You can never be prepared fully for this kind of surgery but you just have to educate yourself as much as you can and know that what you know about it you CAN DO !.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
